The only way I could see it working would be as a one off gig, probably with a well known guitarist guesting in place of Francis - Slash, maybe?! Mickey Moody along with a certain harmonica player... It's been way too long since we saw Diesel on stage I'd go!

What kind of venue do we imagine PLC would fill? Are we talking your average Civic Hall - 2,000 or so? Or would it be smaller, like your O2 Academy size? Personally I would love to see PLC, but I'm quite afraid that we should expect small venues, a tad bigger than the pubs JCQ normally perform in, but not so very much more. Without the name (owned/hijacked by FRQ) it will be hard to reach the bigger audience - the people who still claims they've seen Quo when they've in fact seen FRQ.... On the other hand I think (and hope) that that will be an opportunity for us die-hards to hear some real gems by PLC. There'll be absolutely no need for them to play RAOTW, WYW and so on for some casual punters

I don't believe Francis has any more right to use the name than Rick.

It's all wishful thinking isn't it. I'd say there's very much less chance of Sans Francis Quo happening than the Frantic Four shows.

If they were allowed to tour under status quo plc...3/4 of original members...They could get a similar tour to ff stature.
But this would defs see the end of current Quo or whoever the feck they are..so they won't be able to do it.
So it would come down to, how much publicity they would get.

I'm not discussing recorded output but would a gigging public really find the idea of a touring Parfitt, Lancaster & Coghlan band appealing? Obviously within the Quo camp and especially the FF fans there'd be much enthusiasm (with records too) but the general public who like the greatest hits package? I doubt the twirly finger cardigan brigade would buy it. They probably wouldn't even know the names - Parfitt at a push. The question should be "Will there be a Status Quo PLC"?

WARNING !!! Whisper this slowly as you read it !!! . R.A.J. will be auditioning for a guitarist / singer / song writer on a new Tv reality series . Based on the same concept as the INXS show , in which they eventually found a replacement for Michael Hutchence , and adding the finer elements of the Voice and X factor , contestants will be tasked with various obstacles to overcome in order to tri- front a premium rock band . Rumoured to assist in the judging is Nicholas Parsons , whose radio show " Just A Minute " is thought to be used in the case of the judges being split / or the public voting system being very close , in which case the contestants would be required to talk about recording , tours , music etc for a minute without repeating themselves . Contestants are ideally male , right handed , hirsute, have a penchant for blue denim / stratos ...either / or , the ability to look lost / dazed in band photos without the use of hallucinogenic drugs , a hatred of sensible black / brown brogue type shoes paired with visible white sport socks , understand how a winning formula works and stick to it , dislike black jeans , understand that backstage facilities may not be like home but at least they're not the building site portaloo's ( khazi ) , realise an audience going bananas over what you are producing on stage doesn't make them wankers . Finally and most importantly , your first name must begin with an 'A' , in order for the band's new name to work , R A J A , a majestically Royal feel , which is hoped to propel them worldwide especially in India .

Would a PLC be commercially successful? Not really as the fan base would only be people like the majority on here, we are getting few and far between! I could see them playing in 1000-1500 capacity venues in the major cities only. Anyway it aint gonna happen folks as Rick is too unwell.

Perhaps the best we can hope for is if Rick actually gets as far as a solo album maybe he might get John & Alan in for a couple of numbers in the traditional style. That's probably not a bad place to start even if the hope is to develop things further.

Oh, but what a gig it would be, eh. Rick Parfitt joining The Party Boys or The Bombers maybe. Now you're talking! I'm listening to The Bombers playing Marseilles as I type this.

They could do a webcast pay gig . with extra to pay if you want a DVD also posting out afterwards. If the "up" from an audience is too much of a risk to Rick, it could be a no-audience / family&friends only gig.
They could test the water with an EP - best to do that before the gig. If that worked, reckon Alan would know how to record a raw album cheap in Australia
If they had a website with message board, they would grow a niche audience and I think it would be mutually worthwhile. The website could develop additional pay content, such as t-shirts etc. I think hardcore fans would be very supportive and would actively spread the word. Rock media would also cover them.
For the 3 of them, reckon worst case scenario is that they break even and have a blast.
