New interview with Francis on metal talk. Some good points he raises there. www.metaltalk.net/columns2016/201601116a.php"I think he's making his own decisions but one thing I again found weird was that he said he's always been a rocker at heart. It's a great statement but he came from cabaret and he loves old school music hall stuff, which I love too. I think he believes in that image of the archetypal rock star that he looks like and I think whatever he does is good so I don't see why he doesn't do the... he did talk to me last year about doing an album with Frank Ifield stuff, various songs like that he's loved, 'I'll See You In My Dreams' and all that, then he was talking about a ukelele album." Sounds like Rick is having withdrawal symptoms at the moment and hi head is all over the place. Hope he keeps himself well and focus on getting better. Not start to pine for being back on stage.

I assume that Rick was going to do the Frank Ifield album and the ukulele album under his own name. That would be something Francis could learn - There are things that are only for suitable for Status Quo albums and stuff that is only suitable for solo albums. As for a couple of other things from that interview:Francis says that Rick was initially very keen on the acoustic project.Perhaps this is because he had in mind a genuinely stripped back, bluesy album and not the M.O.R strum along it became. And Rhino - picking a fight with the Pet Shop Boys.

Also many times first thing when you're out ,(for some reason) is making a solo album:' look im here, on my own..f...k the rest' (fr). its like therapeutic way. Maybe ok- for him. But there are solos that never came out, why? Record label(s) was no interested only rp? Think HE should just take a rest still and get some support ,alcohol addiction etc, Theres nothin wrong to be a mildman now

For goodness sake. Rick is nearly 70. So what if 50 years ago had was in cabaret. Francis must realise people's tastes change. He is dismissing Rick for continuing drinking etc. Ricks an adult if he has wanted to enjoy life,it's hardly gone badly. Unlike what I read elsewhere that claimed some fans want Rick to be a martyr to the rock life style. I do think if you almost reach 70 why not do what you want. I don't think Rick is confused at all. Or having withdrawal symptoms. I won't second guess him but perhaps he feels lied to and betrayed. He was told the band would end at Christmas with him sidelined suddenly it's going to continue indefinitely.

I seriously doubt Rick was keen on the acoustic recordings. It is totally against what he enjoys. Am sure Francis said that as a marketing ploy/angle or to take the heat off him after the disastrous moves into Bula Quo after the FF. It all reeks of something Rossi would love to do and has, subsequently, loved. Do we really think Rick was keen on bringing in an accordion as the main instrument after the guitars? Do we really think Rick was keen on posing naked with a guitar to sell the album? Do we really think Rick was keen on the song selection and ripping apart classic Quo rock numbers and belittling them to Val Doonican folk ditties? Was Rick a bundle of joy during the Roundhouse gig? No to all the above. I bet Rick cringed at the whole thing but, as always, went along with it as Rossi is in control and always has been.
And now he has been shunned for some new guy and the 'Quo' brand continues on without him. He has equity so would not dare go against Frame. The best he can do, for his financial future, is to remain quiet and accept it. Then the money will continue to flow. I think he must know this after the long bitter legal wrangle with Alan. He doesn't want to go there.
What a mess. Francis Rossi and his Cronies are all that are left.

"And the great news is that he hasn't completely ruled out a 'comeback' Electrics tour."
What a surprise. Once again, come buy your tickets for the LAST EVER SHOWS.
