I had a bit of time to kill this afternoon before work, so I did put myself "through the pain" of listening to as much of the complete AQ2 as I could from link below. (I had to stop around Little Dreamer ) And I realised later on that this is also what being a fan means. Trying to like something new by the band you once adored, even when they're passed their sell-by date. Because you still hope they might surprise you with something you're thrilled by once more.

That lurking somewhere is another Slow Train or something to keep you optimistic...what's wrong with those bastards!

As John Cleese said in "Clockwise": "It's not the despair,I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand". We see the two FF tours and think "maybe they still can". But as the three releases after those tours were the Bula Quo "creative accounting" film and the two accordion albums,my patience is wearing a tad thin to say the least.

It's a slow and painful death..... Indeed it is. From 1981 is a very slow death.

I always reckon that you are a fan if you can't help being a fan. But what CG is describing is the experience of being a long term fan, the difference between being in love and loving. I've given Quo the benefit of the doubt for many a year now, and I don't regret it, and I don't resent them for not always giving me what I want. And every now and then, they still do.
Something has gone, though. Why don't I "get" QPQ? There are some good songs on it, but somehow I just don't get it.
I did my homework too and worked through the YouTube page, thanks to the guy who posted it, for which I am really grateful. I doubt I would have bought it anyway, and I have a history of never forgiving a really disappointing album. I don't know if it would count as a really disappointing album if it was on my shelf, but I have a feeling that it would. I know there are only about 3 tracks that I pretty well like.
PS ROLD, it's not the restyle. That could have worked. It's the mess he makes of the singing. If you are going to mess with a classic, expecially if you are the creator and a pro, it needs to be something really special of its kind, whatever kind that it. Not just a Horlicks based around a new idea.

Would I've enjoyed a new QPQ style album instead? Yes of course, that was what I was hoping for - them going out with a banging new rocking album. But instead we got AQ2 and I like a few songs from the album, 4,5,6? Still haven't heard the deluxe version songs since it's not on Spotify though. But I sure got 4,5,6 songs on my playlist from it!

The sad thing about the fans and I use the term very lightly is the fact that the crowds from 2013-2014 are the minority , just noticed AQ2 etc on you tube nearly has a million hits which is seriously SAD .
