To be fair completely different. Francis hasn't tried to end the band, form a duo and find no one cares about that. So crawls back under his security blanket. Rick back then betrayed Alan in some ways more than Francis. Don't think Rick had much choice, he was self inflicted broke. Record Company did not want to know without Francis, they also wanted return on their investmant. I don't think any of it was a grand plan to kick anyone out apart from JC in 1981. Though John wanted out anyway or a long break at least. Bob Young getting kicked out ruined the original Quo from what I can see. He tried to keep an eye on the finances. Things went too far down a road then there was no real return. Yes we have had the reunion but it was far too late if it had been 20 years ago the band might have still gone their seperate ways but they could have had the luxury of Solo albums to keep the creative juices flowing. Other long established bands have managed this but they did not hemmorage money like Quo did in the 70s and early 80s. Everyone has a choice. Just like Francis did. He could have just filed for bankruptcy. Waited for Rossi Quo to fail.

Yes probably damage limitation. Trying to drum up custom for the tour and also the new album. They will talk about Rick with the usual brief sympathies and then include Richie with his feel good story of living the dream!

One of the autobiographies says that in late 84/85 all Rick had was one key to a car. No house, no money, no job. So going bankrupt would not have helped him at all.

And I also wonder if any of them would have surfaced again in the music biz if they had all done that. Despite their obvious talents, it does seem to me as if it was the alchemy of the four (FR, RP, AL and JC) which gave them stardom. And individually, my feeling is that they will all have faded away. Unless they found a similar chemistry with someone else, of course.

Quo was ALL about the chemistry. None of them, in my opinion, are/were talented enough as all round musicians to be successful on their own. What they did well, together as a band, is unsurpassed!

I agree the 4 of them had something special like Queen did. Now I like some of the solo suff Queen members did and the album with Paul Rodgers is ok but the 4 of them had something else. It's the same with Deep Purple MK2 stuff is above the very good stuff they did with MK3 and later lineups. ACDC again with Bon they had that something extra, Brian's albums are good and BIB is great but not as good as the Bon albums. I class post 82 Quo albums the same as Brian era ACDC.
