Damage control. Its the only way they can go. If Francis want's to continue as Status Quo he has to downplay Rick's involvement and promote the new guy. The same way a CEO comes into a company, sweeps out the old guard and takes a new approach to the business.
Its one big sham and anyone who follows them after this thinking they are seeing and hearing Status Quo simply has their head screwed on wrong.

The programme will be the usual soft and fluffy pre-recorded script of every other appearance and have the usual video of Matchstick Man and jokes about the change from frilly shirts to denims as the video changes to Caroline and/or WYW on TOTP. Francis will then explain his version of how Quo got together and will be praised by the hosts (again) for how many singles they sold over the years blah blah.
The 'difficult' subject of Rick will be glossed over completely by commenting on well the Hyde Park gig went in his absence. Opportunity here for Francis to say that before he went on stage he didn't want to, but as soon as he got out there the insecure little show off in him came out and the rest was the usual warm glow (minus the rude comparison to another male activity he uses on these occasions because he is on telly). Richie may well be prompted at this stage to say how honoured he is to have played with the 'mighty Quo' and stepped in and shared the load with Freddie. Can't see him saying much apart from this. It will be the FR show.
Final part of the chat will be to promote AQ II and for Francis to say how much he enjoyed putting it together, having the girls backing him ete blah blah - and believe that it was the appropriate product to put out with only one more electric tour left.
Final ego massage, rambling attempt to be funny, and then end of interview. Maybe a clip of That's A Fact to finish for promotion purposes.
..Or something like that...

I can't see the most casual of the most casual 'Quo fans' (I know the following bit is subjective) in the category of only having bought a couple of compilation albums, fave song RAOTW, can't name the albums the songs come from and can't name who the other band members are beyond Rossi/Parfitt, will see this as SQ. because of the latter point - the band's publicity machine have positioned Quo as a double act for a very very long time. ergo, Rossi is not to Quo what Lemmy was to Motorhead (he was Motorhead). It's not just the fanatics and the likes of us who will see the show as being over.....wider public interest will disintegrate whether we like it or not.

It will be presented as the next thrills and spills jolly

What strikes me most, is that it appears that Frame doesn't seem that bothered. I'm sure the past few years have been tense between him and Rick. Just second guessing.

Pity it's not on a day that piers was there, he would torture Rossi if he was well informed. Would be interesting to try and get gmb to ask the difficult questions still though.... But I have to say that this disgusts me, and he will lie about his relationship with Rick Morgan has probably got other, more important things to do. Like arrange for some dodgy photos of British soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners.

Just second guessing. a fan on fb has made a comment that Francis is like a gay man who was married to a woman. But now he's divorced and out and proud. (made in relation to the type of music rather than Rick but the analogy could work for both. Sadly.)

Doesn't matter much to me if Ritchie replaces Rick on a constant basis as the band gives up electric touring shortly. But if they hint there will be some continuation of the electric thing in 2017 and beyond it will be interesting.

Francis hasn't tried to end the band, form a duo and find no one cares about that. So crawls back under his security blanket. Rick back then betrayed Alan in some ways more than Francis.

Francis hasn't tried to end the band, form a duo and find no one cares about that. So crawls back under his security blanket. Rick back then betrayed Alan in some ways more than Francis. Don't think Rick had much choice, he was self inflicted broke. Record Company did not want to know without Francis, they also wanted return on their investmant. I don't think any of it was a grand plan to kick anyone out apart from JC in 1981. Though John wanted out anyway or a long break at least. Bob Young getting kicked out ruined the original Quo from what I can see. He tried to keep an eye on the finances. Things went too far down a road then there was no real return. Yes we have had the reunion but it was far too late if it had been 20 years ago the band might have still gone their seperate ways but they could have had the luxury of Solo albums to keep the creative juices flowing. Other long established bands have managed this but they did not hemmorage money like Quo did in the 70s and early 80s.
