Another great piece of wisdom from a Rossi luvvie. Oh the irony... A current band member said that as well.

The last 30 years of Quo simply prove that Alan WAS as important as he thought he was.

It's true - I've seen pics of him in those platform shoes!

Another great piece of wisdom from a Rossi luvvie. Oh the irony... I've only heard about these guys for less than two years, and even I know that's a steaming pile of shit. This band without Lancaster is less than half of what it was.

A few things on this subject :
1) Rhino himself (and to his credit) has commented more than once how irreplaceable Alan has been and furthermore how he has never set out to try and replace him. One reason alone for Alan at least some permission to pat himself on the back for being one quarter of the whole parts that supplied the type of instinct and chemistry that will always transcend any slickness and polish of performance
2) The FF reunions were emphatic proof of 1) and what has been missed for the previous 30 yrs as a replacement altenative for over polished going through the motions.
3) Alan's vocal strength and the extra dimension it gave is another justification for Alan to "big himself up". Except bigging himself up really simply only adds up to allowing him to claim credit for what he offered (and clearly still offers) and also to make up for 30 lost yrs where he has not been able to speak up for himself at all... while Francis has blown his own trumpet throughout.
Which leads neatly to
4) Francis has spent the whole time since Alan was out of the band "bigging up" his inner insecure little show-off at every public (and private) opportunity. Yet somehow Alan is supposed to say nothing about the importance of his former role 30 yrs after he was part of it otherwise he risks making himself more important than he is/was. How does that work?
I rather think that Alan is simply making up for lost time, rather than overstating his own importance. To think otherwise is as disproportionately unreasonable as it is absurd and ridiculous.
It also suggests that any true bias, if there is any, resides at the opposite pole

I did laugh at Alan saying Rossi was his first recruit. So by his words he is the sole founder of the band.

I presume that he took the initiative to start a band & Francis was the first of the lads at school he got on board. Whether that means he was the first person he approached about the idea isn't clear. Anyway, Francis owes him big time for saving him from a life selling ice-cream!

I seem to remember that they played in the school orchestra together. Sedgehill Comp. One played the trumpet and the other trombone. Can't remember which one was which. And that's how they met and decided to form a band together. I always believed that they were equal in this.

The author of the original comment would say Francis played the trumpet, because the trombone's "too macho".

I think a bass player is quite a big role because a group without a bass player sounds crap.

I wasn't aware that Rhino had ever put Alan down. As posted yesterday I always thought he recognised he could never replace Alan in terms of the authenticity of the Quo sound. Oh well, if that is true, then all the more reason for Alan to stand up for himself. Its even more disappointing to know.
