.....went from songs like Don't waste my time...Unspoken Words....Big fat mama...and Paper Plane.....
to
songs like Let's ride....Baby boy....Too far gone....Rocking all over the world...
and people saying all Quo songs sounds the same....
I'd say they were a very creative band at the time....

Let's Ride sounds fantastic on the remaster. Great song. I'd have been very happy if it had been played on the reunion tours.

Hi All, At the end of the day it's down to the individual what they consider good or bad, as with most things in life you either take the rough with the smooth if not then move on. All bands have good and bad music I have said it in other threads bands cannot be 100% all the time.
Yes Quo have changed tack but in reality despite what us fans think they have adapted to the changing music scenes through the years and yes it doesn't help when the front man doesn't rock out any more....
Geoff.

In five years, they went from making 8 song albums to 12. That allowed them the growth / changes in sound they wanted, while sticking in enough to keep fans happy.
By and large, that was a hugely successful plan upto and including the NTL album. From 1970-81 they were the greatest band on earth, and continued to be brilliant live beyond that.
I don't see the point in identifying a "slide" point. During those golden years, the band were amazing. It wasn't and isn't a competition - I could never be arsed rating the albums in order of preference....I just thought..and still think...that the band during that long period of time beat everyone else.

I also didn't ever think of rating albums in order of preference, or stop to consider any "slide" point. I just got on with enjoying them and especially the gigs.
The combination of time, with the best of them being quite long gone, and also the arrival of the internet are the reasons why such analysis happens these days.
I often wonder what this mb would have been like in the peak days of the 70's (if the internet had been created back then) - in fact right up to the End of the Road.

Status Quo have never been shite. They have just produced some output which many of us think not very desirable or, even, at times ill judged. (I doubt I will ever understand what Francis sees in "Tommy", and I lived through "Excerpts From A Teenage Opera".) I am of course interpreting "shite" as "trash not good for much", rather than "things I don't like". Even then it is not a completely satisfactory interpretation, as shite itself is an important component of the global carbon and nutrient cycle when properly processed, unlike, say, discarded plastic packaging, which is a great deal less useful than anything I can think of, and may turn out to be a real ecological problem some day. Sadly I cannot foresee the time when "discarded plastic packaging" will take the place of "shite" in unhappy forum posts and Facebook. But who knows?

By all means, please use "discarded plastic packaging". I'll use pish or shite, if only for effect. But, in comparison to the Dog or Piledriver, or Hello or Quo albums, some of RAOTW is shite, or pish!!
