So given that the Last Night Of The Electrics Tour is still going ahead and it is supposed to be the very last time the band will play an electric show, here's a set list challenge:
The last ever electric set list is to comprise of ONE song from every STUDIO album, from 'Picturesque Matchstickable Messages' to 'Quid Pro Quo'.
Your task dear forum contributor is to compile TWO set lists, each list with one song per album, one list your 'ultimate' list across all available tracks (including the ones Rick would sing); the second list is your 'compromise' list of songs that they could play without Rick on vocal.
Remember each list must only include ONE song per album, all albums must be included, you are allowed duplication between lists (so for example 'Caroline' can be in both).
I have excluded Bula Quo and the acoustic stuff for obvious reasons.

Will resist the temptation to go pro FF/anti CQ/anti Rossi comments on this........but will go with the assumption that Rick would be there (given the whole thing is fantasy anyway). So just one list from me and I'm afraid there are one or two albums where I can't bring myself to pick one as they are too shite. This idea would have been a good one if FF and CQ and other previous members joined in for a final tour (and the line ups played their own songs) but too far fetched to ever happen sadly.
POMM (Nothing from Spare Parts) Spinning Wheel Blues Someone's Learning Big Fat Mama Roll Over Lay Down Slowtrain Over and Done Mystery Song Who Am I Accident Prone Who Asked You The Wild Ones Take Me Away She Don't Fool Me Ol Rag Blues Red Sky (nothing from Ain't Complaining) The Power of Rock 4500x (Nothing from Thirsty Work) (Nothing from any covers album) Shine On Creepin Up on You GGUAG Pennsylvania Blues Tonight Frozen Hero
Would be some length of gig too, even with missing some of the albums.....

Along with the Oriental, the last song from HT I would include would be CUOY ! They have been two major culprit identities of the predestinate static CQ set list since the pre-Cambrian era.
But each to their own of course
And some very good choices otherwise

I have always despised The Oriental though. Other options would be Solid Gold (stand out track on HT but I don't think it worked that well live when it was in the set) and Heavy Traffic itself (which did work). As as you have said on other threads what a huge missed opportunity by CQ in not playing some of their own back catalogue more often over the past few years.......As well as Solid Gold, Heavy Traffic, others such as GGUAG, Frozen Hero, Dust to Gold, TWT, Movin On, Power of Rock, Rock till you Drop, One Man Band, Shine On, Red Sky, You'll Come Round, Bad News etc etc. Even just 3 of them put in ONCE over the last couple of years instead of The Oriental, CUOY and BOTE would have been a start !!!

I'm personally not a fan at all of Solid Gold, but in a hypothetical world would have chosen the likes of Blues and Rhythm and Heavy Traffic, the title song from the album.
The point is though as you rightly say, there were huge options available and the differences in individual taste from one fan to another only illustrate further the lack of excuse for not including far many more of them
I do not subscribe at all to the excuse about the set having to stay the same because these are the songs that the average jo is familiar with. Quo were always a band who listened to their fan base first and foremost and not people who only listen to their hits! The band/management have created the situation where large numbers of people are unfamiliar with songs because they have chosen to turn Quo from a mainstream rock band into a commercial brand. Making it far too easy to act like they scratch their heads about the set because they think no-one will want to hear "obscure" album tracks.
Precisely the opposite approach has been adopted to the one that made them successful in the first place. Yes, they released instantly recognisable singles that mirrored their solid boogie identity, but they balanced that by improvising at their gigs in a way that fully showcased the best of the albums the singles were taken from.
They have engineered the change of identity and image and just because they have ended up with the audience they are aiming for (largely people who do not buy their albums) does not justify in any way its policy implementation in the first place.

They have gone right around in a circle from their start, apart from learning some stuff and losing some members. I fully expect them to pick up the shiny Carnaby Street jackets again before they really finish.
I'm getting that wrong, aren't I. It should be "pick up two trumpets". Uh oh.

Well they look cute and baby faced in those frilly shirts and shiny jackets in the late 60's, but not sure about them wearing it in THEIR late 60's
Still better than stripping off for an album cover though...
