Could've been worse i spose but i was bored after about a minute of it, its just too static. Whereas the electric version builds (and has that beautiful guitar solo) this just plods on....and on....and on.....yawn.

Funny thing is, if it was actually stripped down and they got rid of the accordion, strings and awful backing singers, that would actually be a slightly decent take on Backwater.
As it is, just like everything Rossi touches these days, it's tacky as shit
Get rid of the strings, backing singers and accordion, bring in a harmonica, add the solo and it would be good
2/10

TBH I don't really like Rick's voice on most songs; he usually sounds like he's straining to me. And certain songs, like Backwater, should either be sung by Alan or left alone.

********WARNING*******
The following version may be too 'macho' for some.

It's all a bit karaoke, isn't it?
I can appreciate these aquostic versions for their arrangements, and the different take on it, but I'm just left with the overall feeling that there is no creative spark left. Any creative energy is spent on how to make a different sort of cover version.
It reminds me of the 90s, when they were making cover versions of others' songs. And now they're just making cover versions of themselves.
It kind of really pisses me off, when I heard That's a Fact done live the other day, because it's great. Why is it that they have to do an acoustic version of it to justify playing it live? Why couldn't they have been dropping these songs into the live set over the last ten years or so?

Stop fucking listening to the Aquostic stuff. You don't like it as you keep saying and saying as you go on and on and on. Get your FF out and wallow in your little worlds. We know you don't like it.......Move on Rockon Wilquo

I have to be honest about it... I quite like it!
It's a bit more ballsy. If they'd recorded a bit more of that Aquostic stuff in the same vein, I'd probably like it a lot more than I do.
One thing that does stand out after hearing it... Backwater is such a good song generally. Really good.
Edit: I will say, after listening again. The strings intro is pointless. I'll probably download this song when it comes out. I think I'll probably crop that bit off...

Admittedly, I quite like this acoustic version. Acoustic with a very special sound system. Ish.

It's rather good. I didn't expect something close to the original, but this version sounds good to me. I'm sure that Aquostic 2 will be much better than Aquostic 1.

I think the same about Backwater as That's A Fact.
Completely separate in the mind first of all the original as a classic FF rock song and (minus the obvious detrimental comparison) then taken as it is at face value - the arrangement is quite good and listenable.
However, notwithstanding mental separation and being taken on its own merits, it is still impossible to ignore the switches of tempo and energy dynamism of the original which are glaringly missing here at the expense of strumming along.
But overall, it suggests something a little better and more thoughtful than quite a bit of AQ1
