Francis Rossi - How to lose fans and alienate people.
1. Disrespect the fans that made you famous with insulting and offensive comments. 2. Openly criticise bandmates that helped you achieve your fame and money despite your limited talent. 3. Dismiss your best music and confess you'd rather have done something else. 4. Talk about money, 'product' and business ad nauseam in interviews in official fan club magazines. 5. Squeeze every last drop out of projects you say you don't really want to do. 6. Pretend that you speak for every musician with egotistical nonsense like 'we're all insecure little show-offs'. 7. Assume that 70s Quo fans are stuck in the past as well as the old band members. 8. Turn in lazy half-baked vocal performances at gigs and play comedy guitar.
Just some of the ways he has succeeded in creating a version of Quo which is now as far removed from its original ethic and integrity as is possible to conceive.

Well, the new version is called Aquostic ... meaning not Quo then, as in Atypical and Asexual.... As I've said before, to me it was ok as a one off, side project but it is definitely not 'proper' Quo and should not have been repeated. In my view the new That's a Fact sounds like a demo. I really despair at the thought of Roll over lay down Francis if you are going to retire, then retire. Don't carry on in a substandard, half hearted way (pun intended).

Looks like they've shot themsleves in the foot like they did with "Accept no subsitute".

Quo used to stand for something. Now they stand for nothing.

Couldn't have put it better, no front man has ever done this in the way that Rossi has

a version of Quo which is now as far removed from its original ethic The "pop" world dressed up Quo in the 60s, but they shunned it and did the type of music they wanted to do, wearing what they wanted to wear. So there has always been an ethic of "doing what they want to do and sod what the world says".......

So there has always been an ethic of "doing what they want to do and sod what the world says"....... Very true. As I have just bored everyone senseless on the other thread by saying, I became a Quo fan partly for the very reason that they showed exciting change in the late 60's and start of the 70's. Really liking and appreciating both those eras, as in my case I do, adds extra value to being a fan - beyond just being into patches of it and dissing the rest of it.
I might not be inspired the same way by the latter day CQ and the approaches to this acoustic project - but the principle is still the same as above.
The heyday does seem a long time back - but then time, and people never stand still. I just wish that what they wanted to do in the twilight days jived with my own ideas - but then out of 50 yrs there is plenty there to stay tuned to even if a lot of it is now past tense in these retirement stages.

Add to the list the sabotage of Quo classics and appalling lack of taste and judgement shown on the Aquostic albums.
