Would never work.
The first "script" for Bula Quo was rejected because it was too serious, and Quo turned down the chance of appearing on This Is Your Life because the show didn't agree to cut out all the stuff about drugs, etc.
Seems nobody involved with Quo wants to live in reality.

Quo have caused a lot of joy and heartache over the years. Fact is there is one money spinner left. A genuinely serious biopic of the Quo Story. I'm thinking like Flame by Slade. You wouldn't need much dramatisation, the story is there. Only trouble is, I doubt the band members would agree on the appropriate tone for the ending. But it could easily be a three hour epic. The personalities involved, and the actual events, would be great fodder for a scriptwriter. Who to play Rossi? Nuff? Pat Barlow? Colin Johnson? Porter? Bernie Frost? Etc? What scenes could you have? Rick working all night on Mystery Song? The Vienna punchup? The 1982 Spud drum wreck? Hi All, Carl, While I agree with you entirely their story could be made into a great film it would take the money men to agree and that would be the sticking point IMHO. How many money men if any have even heard of 'Quo' ? also take into account 'Quo' never hit it big in the 'US' add the failure of 'Bula Quo' to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.
It's the 'US' domestic mkt most film company executives are interested in for. Even if films make millions internationally it still takes a lot of persuasion to get the money out of them to make films unless they think they are on a dead cert to make millions. Why Quo have a world wide audience this may not be enough tp persuade the top brass to invest as they always want a good return on their investment sadly.....
As for the actors that's another sticking point the execs would want 'A'-list celebs to make the film have a good chance so you would just get a representational film, rather than a film that actually had actors who looked like the band and associated individuals which I think is essential as for the most it would be fans of the band from all incarnations.
As for what scenes definitely School/Butlins/Pubs/Clubs etc.etc. Glasgow/The attempted assault on the US mkt/N.E.C/Band Aid/Live Aid at Wembley. All The break up's i.e. band members leaving and the fall out that followed all through their history. All the dope smoking, booze fuelled sessions let alone in the studio that lead to some of the greats we all love to listen to and that has given them the legacy of the current incarnation.
The legal fight with Alan and the record company demanding they record or they are up in court for breach of contract. The comeback and the rather lighter CQ with all the disappointment they brought with them, both from the fans point of view and the band members themselves. Along with all the fights their personal history Ricks car accident and ill health/Francis and his marriages/Jeff Rich illness everything warts and all if you don't what's the point of ever making a movie about them.
No good looking through a dirty window go in the shop and see what it's all about.
Geoff.
