God, I love this song. It brings back so many memories of headbanging into the speakers at The Clarendon Rock Club at Hammersmith where I met my lovely husband Phil.
We went to Donington in 1990 when I was pregnant with my eldest son. letsrock Got a great photo somewhere of us! Me in my AC/DC T shirt and a big bump! We went especially to see Whitesnake but enjoyed Aerosmith more! Reading through the comments debating the merits of the line up that day, I thought this one was quite funny and a bit familiar somehow... The best live version on YouTube is John Sykes 1995. This is a cover band.

I remember seeing Whitesnake at Reading'79 around the time of the Lovehunter album, excellent performance. Wasn't the same band, imo, once Jon Lord left to rejoin Purple.

Widow twanky and Co. were not he Snakes that were great to me far from it. They were much better before Coverdale went chasing gold in the USA.

I was never really into Whitesnake so can't comment on whether they were better before or after. I just loved Still of the Night and suspect it was because of John Sykes influence on the 'new' sound. The same with Yes really. Not a big fan before but I loved Owner of a lonely heart and the new sound brought by Trevor Rabin. So I can understand newer Quo fans like some of the more recent songs, it's when they got into them. I liked the Iron Maiden tribute to UFO but to me the original is by far the best but no doubt there will be some Maiden fans that heard their version first that think differently.
I'm probably repeating myself again.....! Just waffling on, unwinding after a tiring day at work!
