derryquo I'm interested to know where it says that Rick wasn't part of the recording of Aquostic? I know that Francis and Rick recorded Quid Pro Quo separately, cos Francis has said that publicly in a radio interview. And that album came out in 2011. So if you're right, then I don't think its a recent, post the reunion gigs, fall out.

I don't mean to interfere, but maybe this can help to clarify things (re. Aquostic). These are all excerpts from FTMO magazine, October 2014: "Rick couldn't be there for the first couple of weeks, so Andrew, John, Mike Paxman, Gregg the engineer and I sat and thrashed out the material." (Francis, p.8) "The initial tracks were arranged and put down with Francis on guitar, Andrew playing mainly high-strung guitar and Rhino playing either guitar or bass. Rick joined us later and added his parts. (...) Leon added drums after we'd established the initial tracks and he also played some guitar parts. (...) The other players were added later. (...) Rick played a variety of guitars with different tunings and also some ukulele parts.." (Mike Paxman, p.6) "I thoroughly enjoyed the playing of it. I missed out on quite a lot of it because I was at home in Spain. I wasn't there for the initial backing tracks. I just went in for a solid three or four days and just played guitar and sang and caught up." (Rick, p.10) I guess the recording and production techniques Mike Paxman describes here were used on QPQ as well. No more sitting down in a circle and turning the amps up high and letting the energy flow and take over. Going back to the original subject of the thread, I agree with point A in colmfoley's post. But then it's all speculating... |

No he just said that he was in the Royal Brompton for a checkup. He passed rick twice that day, once he was on his own. The 2nd time with Porter he was said to have been having a "right old go" at him. He didn't hear what was being said he just walked by quickly. |

Hmm some questions chaps..
Even if Rick really shouldnt be thinking of going back on stage with Quo so soon? It is his decision.. Right or wrong even against docs orders.
2. Would Porter have been sent on his own to say Rick was out while still in Hospital??..come On does that make sense?. Would anyone do that to a recovering man so integral a part of Quo?
Even perhaps on the direcrion of others??
3. Most importantly, Is this not a discussion between RP and FR should have had privately and at length, and not right now, and then made an announcement?
(Even if was just to let Freddie cover the summer gigs).
With respect, Based on unsubstantiated siting, and a tweet Seems slim to me?
I can NOT beleive Rick would be outed like this.. Surely some more evidence before we leap to conclusions?.
With all due respect to all my fellow fans who've contributed so far,
lets take a bit more time, wait to hear more before judgement is called?.

Even perhaps on the direcrion of others?? I can NOT beleive Rick would be outed like this.. Just remember.....Alan and Francis grew up together, started the band together and were childhood friends. Francis waited till he was the other side of the world to oust him from the band. Granted, they were young at the time but, they didn't have the decency to speak to Pat Barlow in relation to his sacking. Francis also got someone else to tell John he was sacked.... Pete Kircher never once got a phone call Rick would be discarded with ease if Francis or Porter wanted him gone. Just remember, there was a lot of tension between Francis and Rick after the FF |

Porter perhaps wasn't sent, and Just went to visit him, though the business of Quo in Conversation was bound to crop up, and perhaps Porters plans weren't what Rick needed to hear.
