Ok, I'm more than happy with that choice too! Hi All, Viv, You had a bad day at the office then ?.......
Hi All, At the end of it all we all have our favourites for various reasons, I voted with my heart (Probably explains why I went to hospital ) I just do not look into the music to deeply as many do. If I like a Track/Album/Music even a certain Band I like it simple as that, the same goes for an opposite reaction, anything else I think personally spoils the experience of just enjoying the music so long as you like what your listening to does it really matter ?
We can discuss whatever but being as we are all fans of the same band shouldn't we just agree that we all have different tastes and opinions ? else we run the risk of deviating from whatever the subject matter in this case over an album some like it some don't simple as that IMHO.......
Geoff.

Hi All, Viv, It was in reply to the Quo album difference as you are like I said one of the usually cooler forumites and very rarely go back and forth on any issue, either that or I have had a massive Brain Fart (Most probable ) that all.....

Think piledriver has always been Quo's most popular album, including amongst rock fans
Yet the band seem to regard Hello! as the blueprint. It was hello! in mind when they made Heavy Traffic
Post piledriver, the band lost it's diversity, and never got it back

I'm really pleased that Piledriver is going to be played in full as I love all of the albums from Ma Kelly up to Whatever you want (except IYCSTH)!!

I accept that CQ made an attempt to try to re-create the days of old with HT and a lot of fans also wanted to believe in this being true - but, to me at least, it simply ended up a modern day Quo rock album. Nothing more, or less.

Look at the difference between Backwater, BTR, DTIM, FFF, LM and Slow Train! Quo was full of different styles!

Well in my opinion it all sounds fine fine fine!! Ok so you don't like it because Alan had more involvement with some of the songs on this album and you don't like Alan, but what's wrong with the production? It sounds great to me? I love the way the songs flow, the clarity of the sound and the differences in styles. If you have to state that you think the album is shite, then at least put 'IMO' after it. Don't get me wrong, Al's a great bloke. I just wasn't a fan of the really hard, gritty sound at the time and think it's quite harsh to the ears. Backwater and Slow Train are the only two I'd say benefited from the production; both fu**ing great tracks too, IMO. The new remastering by Andy Pearce (on the deluxe edition) helps matters somewhat, but it still sounds a bit crappy sonically - in places at least.

I don't feel as strong as you do about it, however, I have never been able to like Just take me and especially Drifting away !! While I love Alan's voice on Backwater and Don't think it matters I hate it in Drifting away Glad I'm not alone on that one! I do like Just Take Me, though, even if it's better live.

It was hello! in mind when they made Heavy Traffic Post piledriver, the band lost it's diversity, and never got it back I used to agree with that for some time, but due to the release of the deluxe edition I listened to Hello! again and it was better than I remembered. Hard to choose for me between Piledriver and Hello!, actually. Hello! is the more melodic album, and it has a better dramaturgy. Piledriver is, as you say, more diverse and overall rawer. As for 1batfastard 's new question... (A) Don't Waste My Time (B) Big Fat Mama (C) Big Fat Mama, Roadhouse Blues, O Baby (or Unspoken Words, could be either one...) (A) Break the Rules (B) Forty-Five Hundred Times (C) 4500x, Roll Over Lay Down, Big Fat Mama
... though I could choose quite a few other songs as well, e.g. Don't Drive My Car, Again and Again, Mystery Song...argh!

Hi All, FH, Apologies Brain fart mode working overtime tonight doh I have amended the post to include what I said in my mind but never made it through to my fingertips (A passing butterfly caught my attention and I just had to play with it )
