A FAN of The Stone Roses has lied to himself and friends by saying how much he loves the band’s new single All For One.
Julian Cook, 42, went to Facebook to begin his campaign of self-deception by writing “Great track, back on form”, before repeating the lie on Twitter.
Speaking at work this morning, he said: “It’s just a really great song. I mean it’s simple but simple is great.
“Really, really great.”
Cook then walked away from his workmate attempting to whistle the song.
He added: “I just can’t get it out of my head.
“All for one, one for all... I mean how did they come up with that? I’ve got exactly the same feeling of euphoria I used to get from doing Es in the early 90s.”
Cook then went and sat in the toilets and cried for 45 minutes.

On the radio news this morning, someone was ecstatically raving about it and the band, saying something like... sure it has an element of nostalgia but what other band can get someone of his generation i.e. 50 something, up and having a dance...

Sounds like a lot of Status Quo fans for the last 30 years.

The song is Quo by numbers ffs If only Status quo could do this. Tbf though, it's not the song, but the marketing that's getting on the hipster bandwagon. I'm a massive Roses fan and I honestly think this is shite. It's the sort of thing I'd expect CQ, not even the real Quo, to jam out in 5 mins. Roses fans, who have followed them since day one think this is shite. If only Porter had continued on the good job he was doing between 2002 and 2004.....

The Stone Roses eponymous album is one of the greatest albums ever made. They were excellent musicians. Squire understood guitar tone better than anyone since the 70's. This! But, The Roses were better as angry young men. Those songs, between 1987 and 1990, captured a moment of time, that still relates to young people in this current climate... Brown can't sing but, Squire is a very good guitarist, Mani is a top of the range bass player and Reni is one of the best drummers of all time, that has come to the mainstream attention

As I said in the other thread, I think it's awesome. Hope they do some gigs in the south / London next year.
