I assume its alright to criticise the set list on this mb?
There are no further words required except previous expectations have unfortunately been realised. In fact conceivably even worse with BEL and HYB dropped in place of the likes of TW and SBYBIL
Time to bring on the FF in 2016...the signature of what a really spontaneous rock gig is about. It will happen won't it?..
Also, for me at least, a FR solo tour would be highly welcome

The latest FTMO magazine arrived this morning and Francis talks about set lists.
He was obviously aware of the calls for a new set.
"it's not because we are lazy or because we don't care. It's the opposite, in fact! ....................They say we don't give a f**k, but we do give a f**k - it's frustrating."

I take it he then doesn't go on to explain in great detail why they never mix things up?

Would you go and see the same comedian if he or she pitched the same gags each tour..thought so..I understand it is different with bands but as been said to the point of boredom before there is no reason not to ring the changes around the big must play five or six hits?
I was thinking of going to build a day or two around Quo at the B.I.C. In Bournemouth..book a hotel room..eat and drink out a bit and have a dip in the pool / relax in the sauna etc etc..then take in the gig..but the lack of new stuff just makes me go flat about the whole thing.
To be fair it is not just about the set because if the FF surfaced again..I would grab a ticket without a second thought even if the set was still built about the 76 live album.
I am sure others feel the same so the current line up are missing out on extra revenue and hoping to still attract some hardcore plus the pop party goer whom the set is aimed at..not a ROCK Concert goer.
rant over..peace and love to all

He is still scarred by that first night in Manchester, when David Walker was still alive, when the set they put together was so badly planned and under rehearsed that it didn't work.

I think I read somewhere a few years ago that they rehearsed a new set that Rhino (+ Rick?) put together that was more rock-based, but - according to Francis - it bombed on the first night and so they reverted to the usual set from the 2nd night onwards.

Did it actually bomb at all in reality?
How on earth did the FF get through the barrier of not playing together for 30 yrs, unfortunate health handicaps that could not be mitigated, and playing a sequence of songs, various of which were unfamiliar live...and played in a sequence not known to 'flow' (as the CQ excuse goes along with)
Francis, or anyone else, had far more justification for worrying about a set bombing in those circumstances. It didn't obviously, it/they succeeded gloriously, despite Francis criticism afterwards.
That isn't the point anyway.
I'm cynical to the point of thinking that excuses are made up as they go along. That highlighted post doesn't wash at all with me.
I'm blaming the message itself of course here, and certainly not the messenger

Yes that did happen (not sure it bombed though). I can't remember the set but there were quite a few changes It still doesn't justify not making 4 changes or so. Not much to ask is it? I'm now missing my 2nd UK tour in a row , and it isn't bothering me. I know I'd really enjoy it if I was there, but I just don't feel enthusiasm for CQ since the FF gigs, and the static set certainly doesn't help!

Down Down Softer Ride SAYBIL Break The Rules DWMT Backwater 4500 Times Rain Paper Plane All Stand Up Solid Gold The Oriental Creepin Living On An Island Gerdundula Caroline ROLD Little Lady WYW RAOTW
Mystery Song Med JW Bye Bye Johnny
That was the setlist. Francis shat himself after a few gigs with it. Said it was too heavy and changed it
