Hi Allish... Rick and Francis were on Good morning today and while it was a bit of a laugh just basically promoting their so called new album... I was a bit surprised about Ricks answer to a direct question from Eamonn Holmes. Eamonn asked Rick don't the fans expect new material, Rick answered oddly:- When he went to see a band he likes he expects all the hits so NO ?
I thought this odd as Eamonn when asking was referring to the new album and the live gigs, the other odd thing was when the band performed it always creeps me out seeing four guitarists with electric guitars but then that's just weird me! I still don't get this yes we are a band yet Rick and Francis always the only two doing the interview ? Just saying like...
Geoff.

I saw that bit too Geoff. And what really threw me was Rick talking about going to see the Eagles. In the past it was Francis who loved the Eagles. They've told these stories so many times that they can trot out each others lines.
I was more embarrassed at Francis flirting with Eamon's wife but she seemed to like it. She has the look of Gloria H about her and he liked her too.

I watched the medley at the beginning of the show and then quickly turned over before the interview.....I'd seen enough.
I've never really liked watching them on these awful tv programmes......what annoys me is that joe public thinks this is the real Status Quo.....it is not.

Everyone appearing on these type of TV shows is acting, whatever their career or branch of the arts. They are just there to plug their latest product, a puff piece. If you want to know anything about what Francis thinks listen to his serious conversations with real music journalists. Rick only ever says what he thinks you want to hear but Francis gives intelligent answers when asked intelligent questions.

I've heard so much contradictory / random stuff from those two over the years I've long since stopped listening I'm afraid, Geoff. Worse still, I think my young self was completely suckered into a whole load of spiel. It is just about the music for me now. Hi All, Carl, So they can count on you buying yet another hits collection then ?................

And are you saying Rick is a bit Tim Nice But Dim ?

possibly not this one Geoff... Hi All, Carl, Me neither a collection to far in my eyes I have mentioned already if it had been released in tandem with either news of a new material album FF or CQ or alongside a new material album I could have taken the hit but nothing, so as far as I can see it's just a money making exercise by the management. What I cant understand is with all the furore and the obvious emotional outpouring from not just the fans but all four members of the band on stage playing again together at the reunion gigs, especially with Francis stating about missing Alan so much at the Wolves gig is why no new material ? this would have generated more money by far than the release of yet another compilation album to add to the many already official and unofficial releases ?
Could it have been possibly just a money making stunt to keep Quo in the limelight while no new material was forthcoming from CQ ? or just an itch that Francis had to scratch and now he's done it so that is that ? If so I feel we as fans have been conned it has obviously left the fans like yourself and myself in dismay at why no more ? I think the Acoustic idea was a good move as quite a few well known other rock bands have done exactly the same (Although without as much complaining from fans ) Some overuse of accordion but I can live with that just like all the CQ music since Rollin Home.
To be honest they have just sort of chugged along at 2nd gear with the odd occasional shift up to third sounding piece of music that could be the true Quo sound that many of the fans remember from the past if persisted with by Francis, he and Rick are the ones who can do it they have proved they are still capable with the reunion tours. I think possibly if Quo had stayed with their heading the fan base wouldn't be so divided although I can see why they adapted to the ever changing music scene. All the business with John and Alan would just be assigned to history (Not forgotten) as the band evolving with other new members, but carrying on with this Pop/Rock was to much for many fans who are really just craving for the Quo heyday they new and when they got into Quo it's as if they are two distinguishable separate bands sharing the same name.
To my mind Quo are going to be remembered as an pop/Rock band not the Rock band they have and can still be....
Geoff.

That's okay Geoff, I believe you. btw - when I first read your comment I thought you meant that Mrs Rossi was flirting with the chef. That made me laugh as it seemed so unlikely. And then the penny dropped.

Did Francis mention that they were just a pair of insecure show offs again? Must admit, they should stick to the stage, their TV interviews are somewhat mundane and a tad embarrassing....
