The thing about Quo, so many amazing intros to songs......
What's your favourite??!!!
WYM and DD get most of the plaudits. But I love Blue Eyed Lady, maybe cos it doesn't get played as often.

aye, Blue Eyed Lady is a favourite. but there are, indeed, so many. Backwater, of course, & Big Fat Mama also leap to my mind. somebody should compile a medley of intros!

Down, Down, the no nonsense loud n proud Paper Plane, Pictures Of Matchstick Men (as a 10 year I thought it was The Shadows!!) Don't Waste My Time, Mean Girl and the live version if Junior's wailing.

I reckon Hard Time has a great intro. Album version of Mystery Song is a good one too.

DWMT - you just know happy times are on the way 🥳 And, in its own way, difficult to play properly - a nod to how good (in a non- “I’m a virtuoso” way) FRs playing was back then🤘 (Mind you, doing this is like having to choose a favourite child🤷♂️😉)

The opening bars to Junior's Wailing on the Live! album.
It actually doesn't really get any better than that. Well, not for me.
But there are some superb intros in the catalogue. And some even better outros.

For me its the intro drone and build up to Caroline Live at the NEC 1982. Nothing comes close to the excitement it creates.

4500 Times
In fact that little twingling sound Rick's B-tuned guitar made as the guitar tech got it ready to go (until they learned how to damp it and spoiled the effect, but hey).

And some even better outros. I don't know why, but after the big build up of the spoken intro to the Live album intro, I felt somewhat underwhelmed by the time the band came on. I much preferred the drone intro to Caroline Live at the NEC 1982. But then I think it depends on when I discovered the band.

I tend to agree it can be down to where you were with the band at any given time. I was at the 3 Apollo gigs and the excitement, as you say, before the band came on was phenomenal. Jackie Lynton walked on to the stage to deliver his now legendary address and then Rick kicked in, doing what Rick did like no one else. Something, sadly for me, they didn't do on the reunion tours.
