The answer is simpler than you think.
DWMT was recorded at the start of the UTI sessions to get the band playing in the studio set up with Paxo producing., to get a feel for things ahead of recording the new material.
The 97 version of WYW was done, i believe, to have that line up’s recording for going on tv to perform the song as Alan was taking legal action to stop them miming to records he was on.
Simples!

Yep, Don't Waste My Time was recorded at Chipping Norton Studios at the start of the Influence sessions - produced by Mike Paxman and engineered by Barry Hammond Whatever You Want was captured via the Fleetwood Mobile Unit at Stanbridge Studios - produced by the band.
