Something popped into my head today. Quo playing a football stadium called six fields in the 90s (Northampton). Did any one go. Was it full? Same with Carrow road. They seem huge venues potentially always think they’re never talked about as gigs though
Anyone have memories?

There are a couple of pictures of the Carrow Road concert around. It more than likely sold well because, from memory, it was Ricks first show back after his heart bypass. and footage of the support act

Was at the Sixfields Stadium for the last gig of the 'Thirsty Work' World Tour in 1995, remember it raining during Quo's Set and The Herbs were the main support to Quo, drove across London, went to Coventry to pick others up, then to Northampton Town FC for the Gig, almost walking into David Walker outside pre gig Was only talking about that Gig before yesterday's Finale at Taunton with the Friend who drove us there!

I was at the Carrow Road gig in Norwich and it was a full house, from memory. Quite an emotional experience being Rick's first gig back after his heart bypass operation and wondering how he'd go. Hard to imagine that gig is not far off 30 years ago! I wrote a review (no photos) way back when... www.leehawkins.com/NoFrames/Reviews/aug97.htm#norwich

Always thought these two gigs were ambitious venues bearing in mind their star was waning a bit. But yeah. Good stuff

I was at Carrow Road in 1997. I took my son, it was his first ever concert, he is not a Quo fan,hey ho, and he also saw them live at Glastonbury in 2009. Anyway, they were fantastic, Rick had just returned after heart surgery, so he got a great reception. No footage around as far as I can see. Cant believe it was nearly 30 years ago! If memory serves me right, Old Shakey was one of the support acts.

I think that was the first time I sat up and took notice that Quo support acts were starting to lean towards legacy and a bit retro. And more pop than in a rock sort of way. But I have to hold my hands up and admit Shaky was excellent as support in 2022.

Sorry but can't really remember as I was near the front by the stage, and have no recollection of the size of the Crowd Carrow Road, Norwich 17,000. Six fields , Northampton 5,000. They also did Worcester RU stadium a few years later 8,000.

So I guess Milton Keynes aside, is Carriow Road their biggest ever crowd?

I guess you mean as the main stand alone act, not a big festival concert with other well known bands? Crystal Palace ( Selhurst Park) EOTR 1984 was bigger than Carrow Road.So was Cardiff Castle in 1976. Also Moscow 1996(?) was a big gig as well. I am sure there will be others.

Hi. I'm new on here. Was on the old MB but thought I would rejoin.
I was at the Sixfields gig and if I remember rightly there were more people outside the stadium than there were inside. I heard about 6000 or thereabouts. I do know that it hammered down with rain during Mystery Song and Rick was the only one who was getting soaked, water running off his guitar and his blonde hair over his face. So rock n' roll!
