Just wondering why Quo suddenly seemed to stop playing at the Plymouth Pavilions?
Their last gig there I think was 2014.
I was a regular there every year, and seen them every year for about 12 years in a row. They always sold out or close to it, so I can't think why they stopped playing there.
Sadly 2014 was the last time I seen Quo because I have never been able to travel much further than Plymouth. Its already an hour away from my house in Cornwall. I've never been able to reach further up the country really.
So not really sure why they stopped playing there.

It may not be your fault, personally - but then again ......

It's not the only venue.
They played Edinburgh Usher Hall regularly but were last there in 2006. And it was blinding.
Admittedly, the Usher Hall was then renovated for a couple of years but seemed to go up itself for a while. It was always an orchestra venue for all that arty malarkey during the Festival but it sort of focussed on that exclusively for a good few years. Must've seen the errors of their ways, as The Cult are playing there in a few months.
Then again, sometimes it's just a question of where the band can get in and when they want to. Although they always made exceptions for the NEC, Wembley and whichever Glasgow venue was in vogue. These were always staples.

It just seems odd because the Plymouth gigs always went down well, and normally sold out. The problem with not playing at Plymouth is it cuts off the whole of Cornwall, and further up the country like Bristol, Wales etc. So an awful lot of fans miss out on seeing them. I wonder if its down to the ones who organise the tours as I can't imagine the band would want to alienate so many loyal fans. We used to be spoilt when Quo regularly play here in Cornwall at the St.Austell Coliseum, but they stopped playing there in the late 90's just before the venue was demolished, so then they started playing at the Plymouth Pavilions, in the 2000's and became regulars there every single year, normally rapping up their tours near Christmas time. But bizzarely they suddenly stopped playing there. Its a big shame for me, I can't comment towards other fans from Cornwall etc but it cut me off from being able to see them, so for a whole decade now I haven't seen them as I can't really travel too far for lots of reasons, expence being one, and work commitments. Coming home very late at night isn't suitable if your up early for work the next day. Such a shame but what can you do?

I saw The Quo at every gig played at Plymouth Pavilions they played there, following the demise of the Cornwall Colesium at St Austell, they only missed out the Pavilions on a couple of Tours (and a few cancellations with Band Illness, which Francis chatted to me about during our Meet and Greet with him last year at Weston Super Mare) If they missed out Plymouth, they always would be booked at Bournemouth BIC, which from West Cornwall was a fair old trek, but was always made in general. Never really found Plymouth Pavilions much of a venue to be honest compared to older ones, sound wasn't that great there either

Had some real great nights there with Quo. Its one of those intimate gigs I always thought.

I saw Quo there around 2006. What an absolutely brilliant gig. The crowd were on fire as were the band. We stayed in a hotel opposite if I recall. Also saw Quo at the St Austell Coliseum on the 1st date of their 1981 tour and twice on their 1982 tour. Great times.

The only time I ever really went there was before something at the Usher Hall. I was in there before the Goldfrapp gig as well, which was the same year, and I think that's been it for a decade or two. It changed to something else much more trendy in the 80's before it changed back again but I can't remember what. Some sort of video bar, all white and chrome if my memory serves me correctly. Which it might not, admittedly. They were very fashionable for 5 minutes. Might look that up Edit: Actually, just remembered, I was in there before the Wet wet Wet gig earlier this year. Thought it was a bit grim We headed up to The Hanging Bat for lunch. Which used to be The Burnt Post moons ago.
