Good to see Heavy Traffic plugged, always said it's probably the most overall return to 1970's classic Quo album post 1985 they have done.

Ma Kelly's, DOTH? Not involved? The whole thing about Quo albums is tracking the progression and the decline but still being surprised by the gems littered here and there when you'd all but given up. I love their cover of Spicks & Specks. If it was only about heads down boogie they would have been boring after 5 songs let alone the last 50 years worth.

Yep, pretty much spot-on - he bottled the ‘Quo’ review with not wanting to scare off post-‘81 folks by mentioning ‘Slow Train’, though!
Neglecting DOTH is daft too.

The article does include "Alan Lancaster and drummer John Coghlan had jumped ship" oh had they? Saying it that is like saying "One afternoon Captain Bligh and some of the lads on HMS Bounty took one of the boats for a bit of a row" "The Anniversary Waltz and Burning Bridges (songs that Lancaster would rather have chewed off his own arm than perform)." What total nonsense, there's a word called 'metaphorically' that might have gone in there somewhere. So, Lancaster was actually in danger of chewing bits of himself off during Everything, Where I am, Dirty Water and one or two others. Certainly guitarist/singer Rick Parfitt seemed content to go along for the ride. "Along for the ride"? Rick Parfitt? And there was me thinking that he was one of the last forty years most successful song writers and guitar players...how wrong could you be.? |
