Really strong album. The sessions sound like a band having fun and rediscovering themselves after 10 years of mediocrity.
Take the inexplicable re-recording of Tommy off there and replace it with Mysteries from the ball and I think it’s in the top ten albums they recorded.
Production is great. Riffs are strong. One man band, no problem, fame or money, nothing comes easy all sound good to me.
And all the b sides are great

It'a an album that was something of a revelation at the time. Because it was good! Or certainly seemed it after Ain't Complaining and Perfect Remedy in particular. Plus yet another compilation of course. I liked In The Army Now so I, personally, never include it, although I appreciate others feel differently. I loved Rock 'til You Drop. And I think it has stood the test of time reasonably well because there are no fancy or fashionable production values or hideous synth interruptions (or whatever these keyboard noises are/were). They also included a slow song which is very good for a change in Warning Shot. Not a sugary ballad but a track with a nice, almost folkey flavour. Some say the inclusion of the cover versions was unnecessary and that's maybe a valid point. But, for me, two of them were great with only Let's Work Together not hitting the spot. The tour was terrific with loads of new songs in it. Five, I think, at one stage. Which was quite unusual for Quo, although they sort of repeated that approach with Thirsty Work and Don't Stop. The marketing all revolved round the 4 gigs in a day thing so there was plenty exposure. Therefore it sold well. Came in at no.10 or something. How on earth did they manage to follow it up with Restless? All that good work undone. Again

Yep always liked the Rock 'Till You Drop album, in a similar way to the Heavy Traffic album, to me it just feels and sounds like classic 1970's Status Quo, not exactly obviously, but mainly in writing and focus and being guitar based again. I know some will never agree with that, but my dad is also as frantic four Big Fat Mama loving as you can get and he would tell you the same thing. Best Quo album since Never Too Late and in places it throws back to 1975-1979 period to me, One Man Band, Like A Zombie, No Problems, All We Really Wanna Do and Let's Work Together especially. Never minded Bring It On Home and Let's Work Together, thought they were both done well and fitted the band well in the same way likes of Bye Bye Johnny and Roadhouse Blues did in the 70's. The re-record of earlier Quo tunes was what was probably unnecessary, but at the same time I do think 4500 Times is great. But when you have likes of Mysteries From The Ball, Better Times and Heavy Daze, why use Can't Give You More and Tommy? Just a mention of the cover, I've never really had a massive problem with it, but I've also never like the Rossi/Parfitt duo concept for the album covers, for me it needs to be full band or some kind other kind of photo or artwork. So for the Rock 'Till You Drop album, they could have had something like a cartoon square sequence covering all the front cover, maybe one square for every track with the band playing along in each one, with the last square being the band flat out on the floor! Over to AI hey!

Although I loved it back then, for some reason I don't go back to it
Having a listen now to the delux. I enjoyed listening to the live price of love, I only remember hearing a bit of it during roadhouse
Certainly good stuff on there. Love like a zombie, man overboard and most of the b sides. 4500x is great, as is bring it on home
Never quite sure about fakin the blues. I've gone off no problems, good sign and warning shot. Never keen on the album track. Fame or money is filler. Nothing comes easy would have been a great b side
Disjointed and frustrating, there's a strong album in there but that's not how it was released. Terrible album cover. Can't give you more is brilliant yet annoying.

Also Nothing Comes east is unique. It’s the only quo song to have 3 time signatures

The Rossi/Parfitt duo concept was presumably down to the marketing or management people. And it stuck, pretty much for ever more. It began from the very beginning with the Rollin' Home single, so it was a deliberate thing right from the start of the new line up.
The Rock 'til You Drop front sleeve, whether we like it or not (and I don't mind it), summed up how they were being marketed at the time and it was probably eye-catching to the general public. It certainly made the Heavy Traffic album cover very refreshing when it came along!
This was the start of the 15/16 track albums. Always too many in my book.

It was a huge improvement on what had come before and after, but it mainly left me cold. I know there's a lot of love for this album and the production, but it sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom (especially the drums).
I believe from memory that Francis produced it. He must have had the tone control up to 11. The new tracks are good (particularly One Man Band) but there are too many covers and re-recordings. The whole thing sounds like a band that had massively lost its way, was low in confidence, and was trying to do what they used to be good at.
Which, effectively, is exactly what was going on.

I love the album. I was impressed when I learned the CD and Cassette have more tracks than the LP. I have the video of the Guiness day and the LP, I remember hearing bits of Nothing comes Easy through the video and thinking "Which song is that?", because my father have all the albums from 1986 to 1991 and that song wasn't on any of those. When I finally got internet conection and listen to the full CD was like "Hey! That's the song of the video!"
Always seem to me that the covers and the remakes should be on singles instead of the album, and bring the B-Sides to the album. Getting Tommy in the album, but not Heavy Daze for example was a mistake IMO.
