Yes, great conversation. It’s a shame and lost opportunity that Francis always sees the negativity side when it comes to Quo’s back catalogue - here especially a new Mix of “If you can’t stand the Heat”.

I just happened to catch this last night after I'd posted in the Rhino thread.
On Pip Williams, I think some of the criticism is justified, but also think that two of Quo's best sounding albums have been Whatever You Want and In Search Of The Fourth Chord, both raunchy and full of guitar in my opinion, not a lot long wrong with either, I actually think Backbone would have sounded far better if like Fourth Chord. Full, vibrant and in attack mode, both albums.
It's probably a lot to do with the material being presented and direction certain people wanted to go anyway regards Pips production at certain times.
Regards remixing any Pip albums, well Rocking All Over The World we've now had and I think is better, but to me the one I think he'd probably want to do himself after reading bits and pieces would be Perfect Remedy, whether people think the songs are any good is another matter, but from a guitar based rock band point of view, that's the one that I think that could really benefit.
In terms of If You Can't Stand The Heat, I've never had a problem with the guitar sound too much, I think it's quite punchy in places, it's the bells and whistles that Quo don't really need and some of the songs are a bit weak next to what had come in the years previous.

Potentially, 'Status Quo's' last ever gig could be Taunton, Vivary Park on the 23rd August....

It would appear I've already done mine Taunton is a bit far to travel. Says the man who went to see them in Sydney! Time I grew up anyway

I mean, they've been talking about last gigs since 21st July 1984....
