I've actually got that mag. If I spotted anything with Quo on the cover, I grabbed it! I mean, the amount of rubbish I've got Reading it again here is great though 👍

Love these wee time capsules! "Status Quo have been together 13 years. Very few bands have been together longer,". Indeed, can you imagine!

Great article, although some statements have hardly aged well.... "What's the next big conquest? It's got to be the States, hasn't it?" Hmmm!

Absolutely loved reading that as it took me back to when they meant so much to me as a 16 year old. Seeing them live back then was simply glorious . What I found interesting, from that article, was when Francis emphasised how good it felt when Quo were at 100% on the stage. When he was locked in with the other 3 it was the best feeling ever he says. The band was simply as one with the crowd… loud, rowdy and rockin. These days Francis washing it all down with how shit they were at times and didn’t like all the macho stuff plus Rick overly playing ‘the rocker’ image…..just fk off with that talk. He should embrace what happened. Those of us who saw it live will never forget that feeling and how good they were at their peak.

He can't help it if he finds Margherita time and Modern Romance more macho then how Quo were in the 70's,
Is kinda sad how he shits on his own legacy for how Quo were at their peak in the 70's he should be embracing it and respecting it. I know he was not keen on doing the reunion gigs.

I loved the bit when he said: "Hopefully at some point in the future we'll be asked to do an M&S food advert".

Thanks for sharing this one. I'm also too young to have read it back then. I paused while reading to share this.
"Status Quo is such a good band that they now pose a real threat to the title "The World's Best Rock 'n' Roll Band" an honour not infrequently claimed for The Stones and The Who."
Amazing to read.
By the time I was reading NME and Melody Maker a few years later, they were being slagged off and sneered at by the journos.
