I've had this going round my head since seeing the thread. I was never quite sure, but it certainly isn't what I want from Quo. Sounds like it's quality adult pop offering, but flawed and not suited to Francis voice. Can't imagine it suiting Rick.

Nope, not for me. Don't like it at all. It's just not my cup of cookie. And the extra tracks with the single were equally underwhelming. Not sure what it is about it. A lack of guitars doesn't necessarily result in a track I won't like. Far from it. Just the melody I guess. Bit bland for me. I'm sure one of the band at the time (can't recall which one) really liked it. I remember it from the FTMO I think. It wasn't Francis. Bombed, of course, like most of the singles for a few years. You can appreciate why. I was waiting for this....... You are obviously in a good mood!

Very dark days for the band, but at least Jeff hadn't started wearing ridiculous outfits at this point. Oh, hang on...

I have always liked this track despite lack of guitars on it. This would have suited Rick’s voice not sure why he didn’t want to do it. Apparently there is a version of Queenie in the archives with Francis singing. I don't know how true it is, but someone said on the official SQMB several years ago that Rick was going through a bad time with his mental health during this period and offered very little to the album in terms of song writing, singing or even playing the guitar. I won't make light of anything to do with mental health, but this album didn't help mine...

Its funny really the band were always being criticised for sounding the same try something different and still get the same this time mainly by the main fan base. Thirsty work actually got decent reviews from the pop press Q magazine gave it 3 stars quite unusual for them. It is hard to say if the album and the singles had done better we would have got a covers album after all speculation I suppose.

They intented to do Rock 'til you drop as a covers album.

I used to buy Q magazine but they were seriously up their own collective ar$es. When they gave Thirsty Work 3 out of 5 and a positive review, I knew then it was time to stop buying it. It was obvious they didn't have a clue
