Went to see The Dualers, at Albert Hall, Manchester on Saturday. Going to a Ska/Reggae gig wasnt my idea of fun, but was dragged along. What a cracking gig, thoroughly enjoyed it. Even played a Ska version of Dont Look Back in Anger, which i normally hate, but it sounded good. Never been to this venue before, decent bar prices and excellent sound. Only odd thing is you have to go down two sets of stairs for the toilets and up one flight for the gig. Odd. Good value at £24 for ticket.

Went to see The Darkness in Dublin two weeks ago. Brilliant show, wonderful live performers, as always. Playing their classic debut in full with a smattering of the mighty fine B-Sides of that era.
It was my first gig since March 2020. Longest gap ever since my first show in January 1990 (Bon Jovi in Diblin on the New Jersey Tour). Every year since had multiple gigs, between 4 and 10, depending on year. A 3 year 8 month drought since March 2020 - the euphoria of being at a live rock show again two weeks ago was quite something.

Last gig I did was in October; Rhino's Revenge in Kinross. An intimate but enjoyable affair Last gig that wasn't Quo related was Rod Stewart at Edinburgh Castle in the summer. Dragged along is the expression oft used but it was actually OK. I knew every song. And liked about 3 in a 2½ hour set Before that, it was Gary Numan at Newcastle City Hall in 2018. Which was immense. My regular gigging days are behind me though. I don't really miss it if I'm honest. Sort of been there and done that type thing I suppose.

Only been to 5 gigs this year - all reasonably local, on the South coast. I don't have the appetite to trek further afield, even as far as London, since the pandemic. Most recent was Quo Connection at the Wedgewood Rooms, Southsea - 2nd time I'd seen them this year. Really enjoyable evening.

Sadly missed three of four gigs we had tickets for this year because we weren't well (Hawkwind, Quo connection, Phil Campbell). I did see Ricky Warwick - excellent. Will try Hawkwind again next April. Not seen them since 1991!
We have managed to see quite a lot of tribute bands. If you've had a drink, try Tom Jovi (Tom Jones meets Bon Jovi) for a good laugh
