I suppose as a 'fan' I should feel down at the announcement, but actually what I feel is utter frustration at the missed opportunities of this great band. Yes, the FF reunion was a good as we could have hoped for, given the guys ages, but then the second tour came with virtually the same set.
Then the CQ set list. No point repeating what has been written here and on other message boards countless times. All those great songs never played, and there's many CQ tracks that I'm sure would have sounded much better live, where maybe on record they were slightly lackluster.
"The end of the electrics"? That's it? The end of the Quo live legacy will be the same tour we would have got but with a different name? I really hope not. How about something for the fans that were there at the start. A final classic line up gig, something to bring it full circle rather than this, on the face of it at least, damp squib.

Can't get that excited it's just another poor marketing ploy to get the fans in. If you're really stopping get Alan and John back for a final farewell Cheers

As the year unfolds maybe they will have some 'special guests' for the final gigs. I'm sure they will tbo.]

Sounds like yet another Simon Porter badly managed event. Quo really have had terrible management to over the last 30 years.

So, after this tour, Francis finally gets his dream to be an Everly brother...

You make sound like a hospital visit Gran. I hope she remembers the grapes. Naughty Colin! You know it depends on whether I am able to travel to one of the venues.

Even if they toured here, and it was the "last tour", I wouldn’t be interested in the current line up
With the exception of the Frantic Four dates ( which although of interest were wholly unrealistic for me ) nothing that the modern Quo line ups have done in the past decade has inspired me to want to see them again.
In 2006 I went from NZ to Australia and I had a great time with Quo fans and new found friends – but in retrospect I witnessed a band who were totally bored, uninspired and just going through the motions – that was nearly 10 years ago and from the videos and reports I’ve seen since it appears to have got more lazy, banal and uninspired since.
I’ve seen Quo a number of times with the post-86 line ups – but to be honest none of those gigs ( other than the social side of the Aussie trip in 06 ) have created many stand out memories. Conversely, the Quo gigs that have stuck in my mind have been the ones from 79, 81, 82 and 84.
My Quo gig days were over in 2006. In reality my favourable memories of Quo gigs ended in July 1984 at MK.

When CQ tour Oz I still reckoned Rick rocks...he still knows what Quo was about.Thats why I went ... to hear the noise. I know they were a shadow of the Quo I saw in 75,76 n especially 78 but still enjoyed the noise of Rick n Francis.

Well after seeing this before I went to bed last night and it all a bit of a shock, I have slept on it and now, after a coffee at breakfast earlier, I'm a bit calmer. The first thing I should say now, is if it is to be the very end, then thanks Status Quo past and present for being the best band at times, bringing me, family and in particular my dad so much joy and super memories. Where my dad would have been without the likes of Don't Waste My Time, Railroad, In My Chair, Big Fat Mama, Caroline, Roll Over Lay Down etc I really don't know. However, having read through the press release again this morning, it does seem loophole filled and does appear not to be Quo's last gig, as others seem to have mentioned now in this thread. For me any "specials" should be FF or FF + Andy Bown. I'm surprised at the announcement, I didn't think they would ever do another "official" kind of knocking it on the head again. I thought and still think it would be better to always keep things open, that goes for both touring and recording. For me it would be better not to say anything like this statement, but just simply don't book the big tours that they do year in year out. Take a year off, just do 10-15 gigs a year only, then take another 12 months off etc, but always keep the door open. That tour name really is poo. Just seems all a bit tacky, lame. I wish the boys well and I'm hoping for more from them despite this announcement, if there is to be any FF "specials" in 2017, then do the right thing, film the gig or gigs at Hammersmith!

The tour name could be called something like In Search of the Last Loophole.
Did you notice for the promotional artwork for Accept No Substitute tour that it said something like 'the originals like they were meant to be heard' or similar. This was obviously a reference to the Aquostic project: 'we've done them on acoustics, but now come back again and listen to how they should be played'.
We've now got a tour which is saying 'no more electrics, but...' which leaves the door open for more acoustics.
Following the very popular introduction of the game of tig/tag on last winter's tour, maybe they could have carried on this theme and called this year's tour "British Bulldogs"?

You would expect, if managed properly (but we know Quo's management are awful), we would see them on the bill of some of the bigger summer festivals, but don't see any yet.......and probably won't.

The more I think about it, the more I'm sure Rick is toeing the line, yet again, and this is Francis getting his way again.
