Not sure what my fave part is. Its either:
1. The quiet start before it kicks in or 2. When it kicks in after 1. 3 The bit immediately after the second last verse before the last verse or 4. The elongated end
Never sure who plays that guitar break bit before the middle chugalong at no.3?
Ricks and Rossis vocals arent bad at 2.5 and 3.5 either!

Anyone know why they called it Forty Five Hundred Times? Why not Twenty Six Hundred Times, or Eight Two Thousand Times, etc? Or is it one of those things that wasn't really given much thought other than that they came up with it, thought it sounded good and went for it? So similar to the reason The Beatles were called The Beatles and not The Shoes, according to John & Paul...? The only thing I know is that they were inspired by the way Americans speak when they say numbers. Maybe they heard some Yankee say just 4500 and they thought it sounded cool.

Hugely influential in my life. The original remains the best thing I've ever heard. It virtually encapsulates the band in one 10-minute (or so) masterpiece. Changes in tempo, brilliant hooks, power, melody, the works. All in one song. It literally never got any better than this. Quoted for truth. I can still remember the first time I ever heard this, 41 years ago, musically snaking and shifting, it is a (their) masterpiece.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. It stops and starts with 4500 Times. Pure and simple. The quintessential rock track of the 1970s for me - sorry I mean for entire rock history! It's not just Quo, it's a whole bloody genre onto itself. Sheer masterpiece. There are only 3 songs I would describe as masterpieces in rock n roll history, Kashmir, Comfortably Numb (because of Gilmour's solo) and 4500 Times.
Gives me goose bumps just thinking about it - even after all these decades.
