Seems to be from an album due out in December. A Steeleye Span album presumably.
Returning the favour no doubt.

Oddly enough Steeleye's original 1975 take on it has more of a Quo feel to it than this!
Nice enough though, and good to see Maddy still going strong.

I don't mind Steeleye Span. Well, I don't have anything against them. Bought one single of theirs a long time ago. Mid-70's probably. Called Thomas the Rhymer. Obviously before his more famous brother, the tank engine pitched up But merry old England isn't really my thing. Let's just say I don't feel any association with it. I shouldn't think too many from London or Newcastle do either.

I echo what you say about Newcastle though. First time I heard All Around My Hat I recognised the 12 bar rhythm and wondered what Quo could make of it. Many years later they did a version which was far too nice. Like so many cover versions back then e.g. Once Bitten (great song, terrible non-commital version), I Knew The Bride (great song, terrible clean nice version).

Hadn't had a coffee yet Totally agree about Once Bitten Twice Shy by the way. They should've left that one alone.

Isn't Thomas the Rhymer a Scottish legend?
I (nearly) remember what someone in the Muso Press said about AAMH when it was first released (long before the Quo version) ... "It sounds like Status Quo crossed with Robin Hood, and neither lot of fans are going to like it."
Much as I love the Span, this new one is not going to tempt me towards their new album!

Must get bored easy Once you've learned three chords you've learned them all, you would need something else to pass the time.
