Just back from tunes and chat. Dorking is a medium sized hall and looked sold out. Far more than 2 years ago.
It was Excellent. The first half was musically best it had a lot of pre 1973 stuff even a snippet of face without a soul and poor old man. Burning bridges to close the half seemed a bit out of place to me.
Frame is clearly loving it and it came across. His voice as well is excellent. The best and strongest I’ve ever heard of. Ever.
Bob was sat right behind me- I said a quick hello and shook his hand. Top Man. I asked him if he was still writing with Francis. He said yes but not done much this year because of the tour.
Second half wasn’t quite as good - less chat and deep cuts. But that was down to my personal view of the song choices. I don’t like tongue tied or Margie time especially and Rockin seems obligatory but we can forgive that. I’d have liked paper plane, softer ride or something like a year.
Overall. Throughly recommended

Interesting to read your thoughts Matt. Thanks for sharing. I nearly went to Dorking too but it is a bit too far on public transport. Sounds like he does add in new material all the time. There were no snippets of face without a soul or poor old man when I saw him. And lovely to read that Bob was there again too. That's exciting for those still go this year.

Deep cuts in Dorking!
I wonder if that's the first time anything from the Spare Parts album has been played live?
I'd have thought the obvious choice would have been the single Are You Growing Tired Of My Live back in the day, but can imagine that piano part might have been a bit complex for Roy in a live set, no disrespect intended.

It was literally a ten second snippet when he was talking about the way song writing evolved in the sixties. He also spoke about Are u growing tired of my love as the record company wanted Rick to be lead singer and sound like the bee gees.
Still it was nice to hear him acknowledge the existence of those early songs and the Hendrix influence

gee, when I read the thread title here I thought [ok, ok, I hoped!] it was going to be something about FR showing folks how to 'dork'. Pity, that. 👀
