thats why i have a turntable, you have to listen to the whole of one side, then flip it over. You listen to the music as it should be, nothing more refreshing than putting on Quo Live and it being in the wrong running order :-). I have a turntable, tuner/amp, CD player and Twin Cassette deck. Ma Kelly's on Cassette was sold for £50 on ebay a few weeks back, they are making a comeback. The vinyl ritual. 25 seconds to get up, get to the turntable, lift the disc, turn it over and place the needle. The vinyl ritual. There was always the opportunity to play the Pinky & Perky version by turning up the speed to 45 or going totally insane on 78. You can actually see on the grooves what type of song it is going to be. Backwater had a tightly packed bunch at the start and then a space for the quiet build up. The groove pattern on Mystery Song was big indicator of what was on the way. Pinky & Perky, rock legends

This is exactly what confused me when I bought Just Supposin' all those years ago and sat in the bus on the way home looking at the grooves of Rock 'n' Roll - I remember thinking "that's gonna be a Quo classic last track but the grooves really look like it's a slow one? Can't be!" In fact, we wrote a song partly about it and I re-enacted that scene - although I examined all of my new albums in this way (and people on the bus must have thought wtf) Just Supposin' stands out in the memory for just that reason. This was all part of the ritual lost when we moved to CD, though I must say I'm one of those who prefers CD sound quality - not clicks or scratches which were a real problem in the 70s.

Yeah, I remember Judas Priest telling me to kill everyone; kill them all when I played Saints In Hell from Stained Class backwards Coz everyone played their records backwards 🙄

First time I heard one was my copy of Face the Music.

I thought "Hello" "Rock 'n' Roll", this is it, the greatest Quo song ever. I thought it might be some sort of new groove technology, a reverse polarity in grooveogrophy. Crestfallen, that's the word. Nicks and scratches were nothing a 2p on the needle (Fcuk stylus, I'm not a Conservative) couldn't sort out. I miss the big fry up noise of a properly scratched album.

I played an album of Tibetan chanting backwards and heard a great version of Knees up Mother Brown. On that folkie subject, I really pissed Mrs RR when she wanted some TV shite album of Native American songs. I bought it for her and as it was playing she asked me to read out the track listing. I read it out, remember lads, wives will believe almost anything that's read to them. Winter Ceremony The Counterclockwise Circle Dance Celebrate Wild Rice (Ya-Na-Hana) 7:05 The Cradlesong (Dawa) 4:18 Advice For The Young (Gitchi-Manidoo) 6:01 Wishes Of Happiness & Prosperity (Yeha-Noha) 4:02 Elevation (Ta-Was-Ne) It was all going well until I told her the next track was called Fuck me, here comes Custer. She wasn't amused.. I was!

The mini album is now on streaming services, enjoyed listening to it
It's a bit strange - side one is four songs recorded in the studio. Side 2 is the same songs live from the tour at Milton Keynes
Three of the live versions are a bit longer and all of them not quite so clean. The vocals are impressive on both, especially side 1
SWB is brilliant, but feels a bit rushed at 2 mins. Live you get an extra half minute, it's great but you are left wanting more
In My Chair is great. Again I could have more.
ASSW is very stripped back and many fans will like it, same And It's Better now. All personal taste etc, but I love the originals of these songs very much and just don't enjoy any of the remakes.
As for the tour, just seen that Francis now doing ROLD - the clip I saw on Tiktok sounds very good and much better than AQ2. He didn't play it when I went, he is obviously very happy doing what he's doing. Francis btw is very active on Tiktok!!

Hearing those songs like that is the most enjoyable 'Quo' related studio output I've heard from the past 40 years..... They tried too hard - I wish they'd stripped things back to basics as a band, stuck with what they were great at - melody paired with bluesy boogie.
