That's bizarre.
I've looked it up, being curious, and it is the 1st of two episodes about Greggs, a UK bakery chain, explored by food lover and critic Grace Dent.
On C5 website, it mentions pizza - is the connection to Francis???

from Radio Times
She tracks down the site of its first ever shop, visits its pizza-making hub and hears about its even cheaper outlet stores, selling leftovers like “caramel droppy down bits. Rather randomly, she concludes by taking a Greggs virgin, Status Quo’s Francis Rossi, to try its rock ‘n’ sausage roll delights. Scoffin’ All Over the World, anyone?

It's funny but when I first read this one this morning, I thought to myself it can't possibly be the takeaway bakery chain. Surely not And never pursued it, thinking I was mistaken. Lo and behold.... Quo won't play Jools Holland or any half decent music programme but give one of them the chance to do a $hit fly on the wall documentary on one of the more $hit TV channels and they're right in there I bet Rick would have done it an' all. Free bacon rolls for a year Friday night is proper music night on BBC 4, so I'll be otherwise engaged I'm such a snob

Greggs history quite interesting but Grace Dent a bit annoying as presenter. Francis enjoyed his sausage roll. As he said, no need to look for eateries/takeaways when on tour as they have private catering.

I was in Greggs the other day to get a cheesy, beany, sausage thingy & the lady asked me if I wanted anything else. I replied: "I don't even understand why you do anything else!"

As granny, says, history of Greggs was very interesting. I hadn't realised it was a Newcastle company. And also popular in Scotland. But the format, how they make the pizzas, the delivery etc... wasn't my cup-of-tea. Felt like a big advert for Greggs. Until the final 15 mins, I couldn't see how they would angle it for Francis to appear. But he does. I'm anti-Greggs (not really) but they did push out a local bakery chain to me, Percy Ingle, which started a little later than Greggs, in 1954. And then they went in 2020 after 66 years.

Maybe due to Francis’s family history in hospitality maybe they thought it would be a good tie in???

According to the programme they had tried the publicists of many celebs but Francis was the only one who had never tried Greggs.

This popped up on my Facebook earlier. fb.watch/lQ7dPJJjdY/I don't really remember Greggs growing up, the chain I remember was Crawfords. Same idea, interesting they folded just as Greggs was taking off and massively expanding! www.heraldscotland.com/news/12034393.crawfords-the-bakers-closes-its-doors-after-nearly-a-century-as-a-scottish-institution-supermarket-bread-wars-claim-biggest-casualty/

That's sad to see 4th Chord for your Scottish bakery too. I don't remember Greggs growing up either. I only remember them appearing down here in recent years. They featured the modern version the Greggs Seconds (in the fb clip you shared) as the Greggs Outlet. They currently have 26 branches around the country and they are looking to expand to 50. They sell all the left overs at half price. And in these hard economic times, looks like they will prosper.

In Scotland, when I was younger, the main bakery chain was Martins the Bakers. The logo and colouring of Martins was very similar to those used by Greggs today and I wonder if there is a connection.
Crawfords and McVitties Guest were also quite big players up to, I'd say, maybe the 90's then it was Greggs all the way. Still is.
And here we are, discussing bakery chains on a Quo message board. Thanks, Francis. Rock 'n' bacon roll 🙄
