Found this on social media, thought it might spark some debate!

Yuppies Yeah, they'd really lost their way. At least, these days Francis admits that much. With the exception of In The Army Now, he didn't know what else to do. Funny thing is, I don't mind Army or AC As for the Alan comments... Well, saying the guitars covered up the mistakes of the bass and drums is utter pony and he knows it. You cannot cover up the mistakes of a fucking drummer Ticket sales were down from 1988 onwards as far as I'm aware. But, I get it. He's not going to come out and say, "Yeah, Alan is right" or whatever. I am smirking at the, "these guys are not interested in being rockstars. They just want to get it right" as he's sat beside Rick

I read the whole article before I noticed who wrote it at the end.
Nuff said.
I didn't know "Metal Hammer" had been going that long.

"There only problem is assembling a set that represents both the old and the new."
Still an issue 35 years later. As Quo fans, ITAN and AC are still new tracks to this day! 😁

Although oddly Francis did say in a footnote (OK a bit of gossip column) that Alan was right about money going missing or not being paid. This was one of the things he said before that they quarrelled about and he didn't believe.
Mind you by that time it was no skin off his nose to agree with Alan about something he'd decided was true after all.
That article doesn't really scream "Metal Hammer" does it. Looks more like Smash Hits!

I love that it's a hard hitting interview from Dave Ling. He asks all the questions most of the hardcore fans would have asked them. Still no acknowledgement from Francis or Rick that, despite what they say, the new material was piss poor! Of course they are never going to say that but I really like the fact that Dave's line of questioning is getting to them. We all wondered the same thing really, but at the end of the day it was all about making money, to hell with the music and their legacy and doing what Rossi always wanted. He may have been happier in the 'new band' and who are we to denounce that, but we all know the music suffered terribly. I just wished he would admit that his nursery rhyme ditties were insufferable to all but the deaf!

…here’s an alternative, but equally effective, last letter for tqontq’s post… ‘d’ 🤪

I read the whole article before I noticed who wrote it at the end. Nuff said. I didn't know "Metal Hammer" had been going that long. I'd rather Ling interview them, who is a genuine fan of the band, who has genuine love for them, rather than the talkshow/breakfast show interviews that ask, "So how are you still rockin all over the world?" Ling is not afraid to ask the questions

The articles are now not worth reading and I think the writings are tainted because the band have produced some very good stuff, especially since the turn of the millennium. We all have our opinions and are all entitled to them. He just has a journalistic forum on which to foist them on us.

We all have our opinions and are all entitled to them. He just has a journalistic forum on which to foist them on us. He was quite positive in regards Heavy Traffic and ISOTFC and QPQ if I remember correctly (Could be wrong, open to correction) However, it's a fact. A lot of stuff they produced post 81, in comparison to what came before it, is not great. Emotion, feeling and commitment levels are not even comparable. No one can deny that. Ling also saw through the Rossi/Parfitt side show and saw what the band were turning/turned into. I respect a guy for calling it out and asking the real questions. Do I agree with everything he writes? No. But, in a world where journalists tell us that Rossi lived in campervan, Freddie Starr ate a hamster, where they hounded a dying man in Freddie Mercury or where they labelled Michael Jackson "jacko" (slang for monkey) and come out with headlines like "The Jappos go wild for Jacko," I'd rather read a journalist with integrity than any of the rest of them
