I know, but he said it came out on something else after being on the Essential 3CD set so I wondered what the other release was that it was on.
What I meant was, it came out on the vinyl from the box you mentioned (The Other Side of Status Quo) after I'd first seen it on that CD. It appeared on the CD first.
I bought the CD late in 2016 and that box set which included it was released some time in 2017. You've answered you're own question

The Milton Keynes medley was supposed to be on the Back to Back deluxe edition, and then got forgotten about along with the Sharon the Nag mix of The Wanderer (partially my fault).
"We all want to intellectualize about music, but it's an emotional thing. Do you like it? Yes. Then there's nothing else to say. Do you not like it? No. Then there's nothing else to say. You don't have to say it's shit or the band are shit. And I believe, too, the most overused words are "great" and "shit." - Francis Rossi

Tbh, the Sharon The Nag mix would've been better off on the Ain't Complaining Deluxe as that's when Jeff and Rhino recorded their parts for it. "Wanderer '88" is how it's listed in the archives. CD single master along with SLAVE edits and Outtakes

I never knew Rhino & Jeff appeared on this version, so the original bass & drums were replaced then? Interesting.

Rhinos bassline follows what Alan had initially laid down when they were at RAK studios in late '84, but he adds little flairs every now and again

I think most Quo compilations, apart from the early ones like 12 Gold Bars and more official releases like Pictures are put together pretty haphazardly. There are dozens, maybe even hundreds out there. You come across the occasional one that has the odd gem on it, but these are few and far between.
I came across the 2016 release, Whatever You Want The Essential Status Quo just through browsing in HMV in the Trafford Centre before Christmas and was astonished to see that it had a CD version of the Milton Keynes Medley. I grabbed it immediately
Of course, that track was released again not long after but it did take me by surprise. It pays to actually look sometimes.
CD3 of that compilation blows my head, more or less the worst of Status Quo but has the Live version of In My Chair, Shady Lady and some unusual mixes, along both The Milton Keynes Medley and The Roadhouse Medley.
