Hi there, i am a writer from Germany and found a Quo-Gig scheduled for March 26 in Erkelenz. What i like to know is: did this really happen? (one day before they played Rheindahlen JHQ with Love Affair for sure)
The other thing: The Guest on the Erkelenz Date should be a Band called Blitzkrieg. There was german Band of that name one year later, who evolved into Wallenstein. But not in 1970. There always was some rumour about a british Blitzkrieg. This obscure Band never did a Record, nor i or anyone in know has ever seen a picture.
If the aforementioned Gig happened, maybe the british Blitzkrieg were the Guest Band? Anybody here who can tell me about? Anybody here who knows about Blitzkrieg UK in general? Anybody here who has an article or photo or something of this particular Quo concert? (also playlist and stuff)
Greetings from Düsseldorf Jochen

Someone will be able to help, I'm sure. Although I'm not convinced you'll find anyone who was actually there But you just never know. As for Blitzkrieg, the British band doesn't seem to have been formed until 1980, unless there was another before that. They don't ring any bells with me. And I'm very old

And I'm very old You are thinking of the heavy metal Dudes. Yes. I have a friend here in Gladbach who was a promoter then and he swears there was a british band of that name. i assumed this was some kind of a urban legend, because i couldn't imagine 2 groups fighting for the rights concerning such a stupid bandname. The Que Concert Data Report says Blitzkieg - this is the first time i ever read about those ominous lads. Eddi, my cohort, swears they were mainstays in the timeout magazine. And Harald, the drummer of Wallenstein swears, they changed their name because of legal issues with those guys. Would be cool to know what really was. Maybe any of the BritKrieg Boys is a quo fan and down here. In this case kudos and apologise for calling the Name "stupid" mea maxima culpa!

It's such a long time ago and without hearing from anyone who was actually there (53 years ago! ), I doubt we'll get a definitive answer. I can't find anything whatsoever for a band called Blitzkrieg from that era, neither British nor German. But I assume they did exist.

Hi, I got all the early german tour dates and handwritten infos from the guy, who booked Quo from 1969 - 1972 around NRW and the north of Germany. His name is Steve Mielnik who lived in Bielefeld and did some work for the Band and helped Bob Young booking some gigs in the area, where the british army was based at the time. That was the key reason why Quo was based in Bielefeld. He did a lot of research for the Quogigography but nobody is perfect… So maybe he mixed up some memories but he remembered a Prog-Rockband called Blitzkrieg from the UK with some Dutch bandmembers. Unfortunately I haven’t got any information about this band.

He is and still making music in the Bielefeld area. His old band „the Beat-Knights“ seemed to split up during the Corona pandemic because their website is off…

The UK version of „Blitz-Krieg“ supported Quo on the 16th April 1971 at Malton Milton Rooms. There’s a gig poster online…
