Absolutely criminal how Solid Gold was treated! Had the hallmarks of becoming a modern Quo classic...Or even a Quo classic overall!

For the absolute life of me, I cannot understand how Francis has a low opinion of MK yet, constantly delivered solos on DWMT for nearly 20 years, like the live one on HT, night after night and never batted an eyelid...
You wouldn't get away with it if you were doing Space Jazz...
Other than that, loving the reissue

Good review agree with most of that especially the bit on the Oriental ,one of my least favourite Quo songs ever and It was in the live set for ages. All about opinions i suppose I know a lot of folk liked it !

The one time they actually listened to the message board... I was there. Post after post, demanding it to be put in the set. The band listened and replaced HT with it... The one time they listened...

Why? Just listened to it again in case I was missing something but I don’t think so.

Liking the Solid Gold demo.
Honestly, ‘noughties’ Quo really did have too much polish. Dirtier, grittier, rougher. That’s where they should have taken the music.

Liking the Solid Gold demo. Honestly, ‘noughties’ Quo really did have too much polish. Dirtier, grittier, rougher. That’s where they should have taken the music. Depends on the mindset or the musician... Rick was always Rick Matt is an amazing drummer but was a session music Andy is Andy Rhino's playing is very different to Alan's. Alan drove the song where as Rhino doesn't per say. Not a criticism, just a style of play And Francis had become all about the clean side of things. Understandable that, as you grow into your music career, you want the latest production skills and sound on a record, as it wasn't the golden era anymore. ACDC for example... Last time I heard them sounding like ACDC was Flick of The Switch. I don't hold anything against the brand or Francis for that. Just how it is. Having said that, I hold them accountable for the moves and music they made. HT and the entire campaign was brilliant! Was so happy as a fan! Then TPAOY came along and was back to the same old. ISOTFC was a class album imo and was a decent campaign but, damage was done again and they fell into old territory of post 1989 Quo. HT not being used as a lead single and the misuse of Solid Gold was criminal though

The Madness and You Let Me Down are among my favorites B-Sides. I wish they included the Heavy Traffic demo and the other demo which merged in Heavy Traffic too (I cried was?), I only have those on lossy
