I can’t believe how butchered this album is. Supposedly remixed for US AM radio stations. WYW has one of the best intro’s in rock music & to cut it out completely is diabolical. What were thy thinking? Not surprised there were major disputes between Quo & their representatives in the States. They wanted to do the same with Quo Live’76, thank goodness that never materialised.

I remember the WYW deluxe was one that I was quite excited about as it included the, Now Hear Mix, which I had known of for many years but never heard.
One listen through was enough.

They wanted to change the sound of the guitars & drums Also edit it in certain parts. Fortunately it’s 100% pure Quo from their hey day! I can never understand why they had to tamper with Quo releases. If it’s good enough for all Europe & Asia why not the US?

GPO = General Post Office & they were responsible for the nations telecomms back in the day, hence the Post Office tower in London - all hived off with the establishment of BT, of course Alan was obviously spending a lot on long distance 'phone calls! |

Ah but whereas Brits, Euros and Aussies accept alternate culture, and accept it for what it is as the original, the Yanks need to take a good idea and "Americanise" it. The list of British TV shows they have destroyed is legendary, as are movie edits and the many poor US targetted mixes. Great example - Crocodile Dundee when Paul Hogan says "stone the crows" Line removed because the audience couldn't see the crows! Imagine removing a line from a Hollywood movie.... They live in their own world. |
