RAOTW 2022 is out and... it sounds dull. And your point is? It was always pretty dull, the original in particular both sonically and musically. I doubt I'll even play it.

There’s been adverts on the sides of buses up here in Scotland too ! You've seen a bus? Lucky sod I still haven't bought this CD yet. I'm not long back from holiday and I'm rooked. Next month though 👍 Lol, it was a pal in Ayrshire who saw it and sent me a pic 😊

Of course, John Fogerty 👍 I meant the first Quo recording of it, although I've never been mad on any rendition.

I'm with freewilly here. The first Quo version is a classic, even if it pales in the context of 70s Quo. But if you go through the trouble of making new versions of tracks, you may as well get them up to a standard, and I didn't expect the "new" RAOTW to sound like that. Even if it's just a partial re-recording of the Riffs version.

Does anyone know if ALL the tracks have been remastered, remixes aside?

A few quibbles aside, I listened to all the tracks today and there’s a few I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed.
It’s a shame those compiling the collection forgot about Obstruction Day and Driving to Glory ….these would have been great to include. That’s a real missed opportunity .
From the Fourth Chord sessions I’d have had I Ain’t Wasting My Time instead of Elextric Arena. Likewise from Bula Quo, I think GoGoGo would have merited inclusion instead of perhaps the title track.
The other quibble I have is about the Noughties . It’s very confused as clearly Don’t Stop and UTI were from the Nineties ( and the inlay booklet references this).
The other thing is , like it or loathe it, perhaps The Oriental should have been on there given it’s importance in the live set over the years .
The whole concept is a bit of a mish mash.
But , like I say , I did enjoy revisiting some of these tracks.
Even Tilting At the Mill where some of Francis’ guitar work is excellent .
And I’m loving the new version of Paper Plane.

The Rocking All Over The World recording has the same piano track from 2003 version. I was slightly disappointed as I was looking forward to a new piano break from Andy after the initial intro - but I am probably alone in looking for that! I reckon they have pulled some other tracks from 2003 version to build this new recording, along with a few extras...e.g. slide guitar at end and oos. Not sure if Francis's vocal is re-recorded, I think it might be the 2003 version but mixed differently but not listened enough to figure that out. Levels are different, when guitars kick in, piano much lower in mix - but it is the same piano track. I do like it, and I like the thicker guitar outro.

From the Fourth Chord sessions I’d have had I Ain’t Wasting My Time instead of Elextric Arena. All of the above. One of the reasons I was pushing for a FITLC reissue was that it would've chronologically been the place for Obstruction Day, Driving to Glory, Fighting with the Pack, Analyse Time and the re-recordings of DWMT and WYW. And I Ain't Wasting My Time wasn't on the initial European version of ISOTFC, so that would've been a real bonus. Plus the decision to pretty much ignore all of Rick's contributions. It's just all very weird and I wish they had asked Luke to help...

But, if we are comparing to what came before it, it's a no brainer in terms of quality and whilst I was still a pet sperm, I can imagine how it must have felt for a Quo fan... Believe me, I felt the equal... FF to Bula Quo...Jesus Christ

Every single nightclub I've been in... Ireland, UK and a club or two in America...
Billie Jean and RAOTW
It's a classic! Whether we as Quo fans, knowing what we know, like to admit it or not.
We just hate the fact its become so associated with our band, knowing that there is so much better in their catalogue...
And yes, I say our band because it felt like "our band" That's why we relate to them so much
Or related to..

There's a highly accessible version with both bonus tracks for ISOTFC: www.discogs.com/release/7503573-Status-Quo-In-Search-Of-The-Fourth-ChordBoth bonus tracks were released on www.discogs.com/master/600239-Status-Quo-In-The-Army-Now-2010But yeah, would have been nice to have more places with them. For Obstruction Day, Driving to Glory, Fighting with the Pack, Analyse Time and the re-recordings, they were all released in either 1999 (before FITLC and as B-sides of UTI tracks) or 1998. Makes more sense for them to be part of UTI, chronologically speaking.

The remix of Backbone is interesting, since it has some faint echo (giving the whole sound more presence) and the keyboards are deemphasized in favour of more guitars. And the snare sounds better. Ta for that, this edition totally passed me by, I was aware of ITAN 2010 though. The thing is... When Mike Paxman was asked why those tracks weren't on the 2011 reissue, he said "because they weren't part of the UTI sessions" (except DWMT 1997). So when I thought Universal had the rights to reissue FITLC, it made sense for me to push the inclusion of those tracks on there instead to have them as part of the series, since it doesn't seem like UTI is ever going to get a more substantial reissue - leaving aside the fact that POMM 1999 was added to the most recent version, but there was precedent for that. Now that it turned out FITLC has been bought by the band too, it's all academic, as I can't see them agreeing to any of the ideas I put forward ages ago.
