I loved The Satellites, saw them 12 times back in the day many times hanging out with the band - great great times, i pre ordered this set last year on vinyl & cd pre orders got your name on the credits also a couple of extra bits included - original gig flyer signed by Mauro Magellan (drummer) & an exclusive print by Rob Fletcher, all in all a very cool package, Ive got loads of great bootlegs from the `80`s & `90`s - icluding 2 superb shows from The Ritz in NY - they really were a fantastic live band. The line up these days only has Rick Richards as an original member & just play small shows now n again but still play the songs well. Dan Baird had a great run as a solo artist & with his Homemade Sin band with Warner Hodges but hes pretty much retired now. Sounds great, sincity - I only managed to see them once, Dublin late β89 on the β..Salvationβ¦β album tour. They were a feckinβ great & proper live band. (Btw I donβt suppose a boot of that Dublin gig exists, you know?) π€ If there is one i aint come across it, i`l ask a guy who will know

The Georgias almost blew Quo off the stage at Reading '87 - their first UK gig! I was there! There's a great radio bootleg of that gig which *may* be formally released next year from the same people who released Lightnin' in a Bottle. The people releasing these work with the band, by the way, it's not one of those dodgy radio broadcast releases.
The first 2 Georgia Sats albums are excellent (S/T and Open All Night). After Salvation & Sin (3rd album) Dan Baird 'fired himself' (that's how he describes it) leaving the name with Rick Richards et al, and released a corking solo album called Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired (really!) and had a couple of big solo hits. Lyrically, he's a genius - check out the single, I Love You Period (no cheap jokes, please) and listen to the lyric, it's brilliant! Crap video, mind
The album is full of stuff like that.
They used to reference Quo by playing part of Caroline in their song called Railroad Steel when live. Rick Richards and Dan Baird saw Quo on one of their 70s tours and that influenced their musical direction.
I've seen Dan Baird many times and he has always been brilliant live. Rick Richards is in the Western Sizzlers who are responsible for this, of course:
Do yourself a favour - get into the Georgias, Dan and Rick!

I love you period. What a tune
When it was a hit, me and my mates had our own sick version
"I love your periods, will you get the towels out? " was part of it.
We once had a packed rock club singing it, guess you had to be there, but it was great ππ

Until I saw your post I'd thought we were original. I thought I was posting a story related to the song, not a joke. That song had an impact,a genuine hit, a packed rock pub were all singing it, enjoying the alt lyrics
