I've been listening to Over and Out, thinking of Rick this weekend. Can't believe its 5 years since he left us.

I'm sure you've all seen this before. But YT just popped it into my feed. And I've enjoyed watching it again.

5 years seems ridiculous I dare say every one of us remembers the very moment we found out. I know I do. Despite all his health issues for two or three decades, it still came as a shock. Then, something like a day later, George Michael went and as far as the media was concerned it was like Rick never happened. That hurt Me and Mrs Mortified will be raising a glass on Friday. As she stuffs the bird. Seems strangely appropriate Excuse the dodgy humour, but he'd maybe have found that funny

Still remember waking up to the news on that Christmas Eve and still seems so recent!

Still remember waking up to the news on that Christmas Eve and still seems so recent! I heard that afternoon. But I can still picture the moment I discovered it so precisely. It does indeed.

We were just pottering in the kitchen when Mrs Mortified read it on Facebook on her phone. It was mid-afternoon because she's not a serial social media subscriber. Looks at it maybe twice a day. Sis didn't even know. I had to call her. Chaos and lots of tears ensued. Bringing us all back down to earth and certainly making me chuckle, we had my step-daughter up from Bristol with her beau for Christmas. He tried to be sympathetic, bless him, but whispering phrases like " which one is that then?" did make me smile and realise this was largely generational. I even got condolence texts from ex-work colleagues! I worked in the same office for 37 years, all tolled, and I was a Quo nut for the entire period. And I made sure everyone knew I'll be honest, daft as it sounds, I feel like Rick's still here. I don't miss him. I can watch or listen to him him any time I please

I had just returned from the pub for a ½ a shandy with work colleagues and was watching the FF live at Wembley DVD and my phone kept going of with text and WhatsApp messages and didn't take much notice of them, as I thought they were just have a Happy Christmas type texts. I just happened to glance down on my phone when I noticed a text came through from a young barmaid that worked at the local pub, it read 'A member of that band you like has died' I read the full text, then put on Sky News, to see the full story...Christmas suddenly was ruined.

I think I heard about it here. I haven't been in an office for 30 years, so there weren't so many people to alert me, but I remember that one of my sisters texted me, and the other one didn't. The one who didn't was the one who had more time to get bored with the whole Quo thing I do miss Rick. He's there in the electrosphere, but he's not there on the stage any more. That made more difference than I thought it would (and I thought it would make a differnce.) It's not just about playing the songs well. The whole band sort of makes a different noise now. It's about his singing not being there.

I was at work and just happened too have a look on my phone and someone had posted onto Instagram a pic of Rick Alan and Francis saying RIP Rick. I thought WTF no way popped onto Facebook and several others had done a similar thing with pics of Rick. Looked at Sky News on my phone and it was the breaking news at the time. I could not believe it made the last few hours of my shift rather sad
