Don't mind the riff and the verses are fine but the 'over and over again' chorus bits are excruciating. It is mediocre at best. That said, nice quick Rossi guitar work but that's a few seconds added into the dross.
Oh and the production is weak and poor too, but that applies to all of Backbone.

I'm sort of with quovadis on this. Although I'd probably rate it a little higher. It's a track that has been given some good press on here compared to many others on the album and the guitars on it, through the verses in particular, are excellent. I think the song is let down slightly by the chorus which is weak by comparison. It's that thing Quo do quite a lot; when rock suddenly morphs into something else for a few seconds; an unexpected change of key. Not always a bad thing admittedly. It's possibly very clever but it can occasionally be irritating when you're happily enjoying a song just the way it is. Having given it all that analysis, though, there's enough going on in there for me to appreciate. 7/10 I reckon. Like most songs on the album

One of my two favorites from Backbone. Love the song and everything about it.

The good bit is here up until 2:16 when it all gets a bit average again.

Obviously Richie, who wrote it, is Irish, but is the chorus a little bit Irish sounding somehow? Can't put my finger on it, but to me, it is.

The good bit is here up until 2:16 when it all gets a bit average again. From 2:16 onwards it sort of goes into ELO territory (no surprise there ). It also reminds me a bit of The Winner as well for some reason. And yet they're not remotely alike This is OK though. Every track on Backbone is OK and that's maybe part of the problem. If there is a problem. Which there probably isn't

I loved this the first time I heard it and still do.
The mad thing with music is that different songs are for different people.
For example , I wish Face The Music had been on the album proper instead of Running Out of Time, which I find very mundane and a bit wishy washy .
But others really like Running Out of Time…..so there’s no rights or wrongs , just preference .
My only criticism of Face the Music is that I could have done with the riff carrying on for a few more bars at the end .

Loved this. Ironic that the newest member of the band has a better feeling for what makes a good Quo song than the longest serving member. Loved Richie's rhythm work on here and some superb keys from Andy.

I prefer Get Out of my Head over this. It's nice but I don't know. Lacks of something.

I don't completely agree wth that although I understand very well what you are saying...but on this album, honestly, I personally think that the rossi / young tracks waiting for a woman and I see you're in some trouble are not far behind...sure, there's always stuff that one desires...for instance a song like I see you're in some trouble would have been better had it included a decent solo...but besides things like that...nah, I really think Francis himself did a pretty good job on this album.
