It was one of my favourites from the album when it first came out. However, the remake didn't do it any favours. All it really did was add some interrupting synths and some singalong backing vocals.
But back to the version in hand. I still like it. I must admit, I do like the sound of the guitars on the Rockin' album. I know they're quite 'clean' and have effects on them here and there but they're a pleasant listen.
If there was to be a second single from the album, this was probably it. In the UK anyway. I appreciate there were other singles released elsewhere.
7/10

John Edens remix of this album was just great… I still can’t believe how Quo/management released that original tinny album. Anyhow the remix album including this song have come alive.👍 Highlight of this song for me is the outro where John and Andy seem to be revelling in it…. along with Alan’s input. Defo a headbanger outro.🤘🏻

One of the better tracks from that album. Unfortunately doesn't get the air time it deserves from me because of all the other whack thats on it (both original and remix).

Think you are right I've never liked it much, then you listen to the simple headsdown demo and you realise the huge potential it had

Seemingly Quo's management hadn't got the balls to go completely into a new camp and yet weren't satisfied with the enviable base the band had. In my mind this has always been the first of the "Francis" albums and with Pip involved it was never going to be Piledriver 2. I quite enjoyed the remix album with the Quoing it up concept. Sadly you do lose classics like Andy's piano outro here, so low in the mix it's hard to hear how good it was and it becomes inconsequential. The remix also overcooks Alan's basslines. Some brilliant work from Alan, when his heart was just about still in the band but way too high in the mix.

Some brilliant work from Alan, when his heart was just about still in the band but way too high in the mix. I agree. I'm not a fan of the remix as much as other people, mainly for the reasons you say (especially the lack of keyboards). And I think the mastering for the CD doesn't complement it. It's very compressed and limited, but then EQed after it (you can actually hear distortion on the solo of Rockers Rollin' and in some other places)... and with a huge bass boost. If you compare the CD to the samples John Eden presents on his videos, you'll notice it. So, the bass is not only a bit high in the mix, like you say, but the mastering also boosts it more. EDIT: Oh and I also really hate the sampled snare on RAOTW... always liked the fat punchy sound of the original. I remember when I first heard the remix, was really looking forward to that snare... One other thing I don't like about John Eden's mixes is the very obvious use of automations. The piano at the start of, again, RAOTW is a very obvious example. Sounds too artificial to me and really loses dynamics.

Bob Young also considered it good enough for his country album...
