Newcastle? Sleeping giant or dozing pygmy? They've been Rip Van Winkle for a long, long time. But Ashley is driving them towards being pigmys. And the 'Big Six' (which includes, erm, Man City!) are determined that they (nor any other team, English footy fans) will ever challenge them again! The Qatari royal family don't want the Saudis involved! Just a brief mention for The Entertainers - we shoulda won the League that year! And a reminder - I am a Newcastle fan! I don't mind Newcastle United, I went there as an away fan and it was quite a thing to hear the Blaydon Races sung at that volume, got in the wrong part of the ground but it was safe as houses, blokes around us were good lads who explained,as though talking to 5 year olds, what "ganning" meant. Those were the days, before the idiot mob fcuked it all up...lovely pies at half-time. Just to really piss you off. "Oh me lads you should have seen us coming, Running down the Uxbridge Road, You should have seen us coming, All the lads and lasses smiles, upon their faces, Running down the Uxbridge Road, To see the Queens Park Rangers..." Wankers eh?

Not many hoardings around the pitch , how big were Quo to have one put up ....even though it might have come across that they were supporting City..Blue for You.
Some cracking old names , Malcolm MacDonald, Peter Barnes and Asa Hartford . He was a whole hearted player.
The Quo sign needed to stand out more though.

The Mystery Song.
Is the bit from the end of the solo to the next verse Quo at their best? Reckon so.

Jeez - when FF-Quo were good they were really good, huh? Yep. And this one is one of the best examples of that.

Wankers eh? Aye, I've been there a few times over the years. Popped into the Strawberry for a pint & a pease pudding bap. Only got some mild ribbing despite being the only blue on the train from & to Durham on one occasion. I have to say though, somebody is going to die on the way up those stairs at the away end!

The City fans who were real fans before the success were just about the best fans that came to St James - certainly the loudest. Similar clubs in many ways - a load of self-generated (owner-generated, in reality) strife (in days gone by for City). While I hate club buyers buying success, I hope it happens to us

While I hate club buyers buying success, I hope it happens to us We've got an owner who's managed to buy greater mediocrity than we were suffering before he took over! I remember seeing Citteh play Reading at Elm Park down in the 3rd division & a few of their supporters were saying that, although they couldn't wait to get back up to the top flight, they'd got to go to clubs & grounds that they'd otherwise only have a chance of visiting via a cup tie & it'd been a real eye opener for them - a whole different football world down in the lower divisions.

A bloke I used to work with and who I'm still in contact with is a City fan. Although he's from Edinburgh, he went to uni in Manchester and fell in love with the place - and the blue moon side He even drinks Blue Moon beer!! Stayed loyal to them ever since he came back. He was down there during the whole baggy/indie thing, so obviously he's a Stone Roses/Happy Mondays/Black Grape nut He loved the play-off days with the likes of (from memory!) Sean Goater, Uwe Rösler and Paul Dickov. He has always said that, although he's happy with their success these days, he actually preferred it when City were in the 3rd Division. Said it was more real. More fun. Personally, I just think he's getting old like the rest of us. That it was all much better 'then'

It WAS all much better then. My Dad was a lifelong City supporter who always stood on the same part of the terrace at Main Road, until he got older, and then moved to a season ticket seat. He made lifelong friends there, just meeting them at the matches. But he was also a Manchester man and would go and support United when they got to a cup final at Wembley after City had been knocked out. He lost his voice for a week after the 1956 final and Bert Troutman became the local hero and he mourned with the Reds at the Munich disaster. Football was much better when local teams had mainly local supporters.

This is the song that should’ve launched Quo into America no doubt. On another note, John’s drumming and percussion is simply superb.
… and on another note… it still irks me how Francis mocked Alan and particularly John with their input to the reunion gigs. Heartless. These were the guys who helped catapult Francis to where he is today ffs!

At the original Den I stood in the same place year after year surrounded by people who I only ever saw every other Saturday, some mid-week days and most Christmas periods. When the move to the New Den took place I never saw them again.

Football was much better when local teams had mainly local supporters. I tend to agree but I dare say owners would wholeheartedly disagree. A share of TV revenue and sales of merchandise are the prime financial considerations these days. The fact that not one professional club has gone bust as a result of the pandemic is pretty much testimony to that. Although Barcelona are sailing close to the wind Those pushing for "a truly global game" (as FIFA tend to try and sell it) do not have the interests of the local supporter at heart. Actually, I'm not sure whose interests they have in mind. Their own probably But I guess this is a debate for elsewhere. And all leading from a discussion about Mystery Song That advertising campaign in 1976 I remember well. Don't think it ran on to the FA Cup final. No one playing in blue that year
