I reckon Francis was writing Marguerita Time in his head as this performance was going on. pity it didn't stay in his f*&%ing head!

The way the song starts was obv a big turn off for loads of the fans
Never really minded it, I've grown to like it more over the years because it's a superb vocal. Alan really does have a great voice
I wonder did he have coaching at any point? I think his voice changed quite a bit through the years, don't think I've seen much about that on MB's
The band look cool but not so happy

I reckon Francis was writing Marguerita Time in his head as this performance was going on. In revenge? I didn't particularly like the song at the time but it sounds OK here. Probably because it's a nice change from the usual. But I can hear that 80's style drumming beginning to creep in. Not sure if that was down to production, mixing or what. But it was very common for 3 or 4 years. So, just to balance things out and give poor Alan a break (he always took a bit of stick for Big Man), feast your eyes and ears on this

Well, this is a rarity! Nice one Not my favourite ever Quo song but at least it's not Rockin'... And, in fact, it sounds a bit better in 2021 than it did in 1982 Was Big Man released as a single in Spain? Just wondering why they might have performed it on TV. Funny how these songs I never play are quite listenable when heard in isolation. But that drum sound.... mind you the solo/outro ain't bad at all.

I was the same with Gone Thru The Slips. Detested it when I first heard it but played it the other week and it's rather pleasant. Don't know if it's an age thing (probably; I suspect there's a mellowing of tastes involved ) or a question of giving something a chance rather than ditching it after a first listen. Mind you, I've never thought Big Man was as bad as it's often made out. It's not even the worst on the album!

First time I've heard the song all the way through, and it's fucking shite. The performance is cringier than the one for Jealousy First time youve heard the song all the way through??? jesus wept i had you down as some massive Quo fan from years gone by especially with you doin the remasters n stuff (wheres HT btw?) but apparently your not really cos lets be honest - its not the best of songs i agree ... but they didnt really do much better than 1+9+8+2 ever again give or take a couple o dozen tracks & lets be honest 1982 isnt the best of albums by any stretch but then we got Army, AC,PR, absolutely shite so you may wanna rethink yer comments there mate cos they were Quo`s nadir - for many it was game over.

From the same Spanish sessions comes Jealousy and Dear John
The band are not happy at all, obviously. Alan must be thinking 'I have to play this shit Jealousy track in front of my family'. And to go from NTL one year prior to all this. Jeeze.

Big man is probably as far from classic Quo as jealousy. Just a different direction.

Big man is probably as far from classic Quo as jealousy. Just a different direction. Truth... It's just that going from singles like Mystery Song, Rain, Down Down etc, Jealously and Big Man (no idea if they were singles outside the UK) were just massive drop offs*... *If you're reading Francis, I'm 32....Not a nostalgic person.

Listen to the last minute of bigman and compare with the first minute
Its a proper stab at a new direction, but I think it was beyond the band to produce it themselves
Few songs have a better or more passionate vocal. Doesn't deserve the batterings it's had

Back To Back, Army and Complaining I can listen to without any issues. Perfect Remedy I skip half of. I.E. Heavy Traffic Deluxe - probably not happening. I think the last of the Deluxe series has been scrapped. I've not heard anything new about them from Universal, and I'm not chasing them up about them any more

I was thinking of buying the Riffs deluxe, I never have the original album (and maybe the Heavy Traffic deluxe if the remaster was good)

To be honest I have never liked this song much too shouty vocal and doesn’t really gel as a song. Never the less a nice find never realised they ever did the playback on tv.
