Great track from a fantastic album. Not a skipper in sight unlike nearly all other albums.

I like it. I'll play it. But I wouldn't say I've ever loved it. But don't be sad. Two out of three ain't bad For some reason, I don't like the failed attempt at faux reggae in one or two of the breaks. I get it; it was 1981. Everyone was doing it. But it wasn't until Fiji Time that they nailed it. Well, ska at any rate. But, yeah, a good enough track

When I was younger I liked the synths at the end, it sounded to me like ambulance sirens.

I consider it a rather weak track from a rather weak album. Although it's great compared to all that's followed it, of course!

I used to really like it but on playing the album again a couple of times recently it fell a bit flat and perhaps dragged on a bit too long. The reggae bit is nice enough though and is infinitely better than the appalling 'Fiji Time' in every respect.

This is what I call a great filler. I would [probably) not stick it on the turntable (or YouTube) by itself, but as part of an album it's a listener. I love the lyric. Horrible fascintation. Not your typical "on the road" song. I'm not playing a game with you, I really want to see you now I happen to be in the area but I've lost your phone number Oh bother it's going to be such a bore finding someone to spend the night with, I think I will call out to you (without a phone), [is shouting in the town square after a few beers] and so on. It kind of has the Sting of Truth about it.

Every single album has its fillers and this is one of them on the band's truly last great album. To me it modernises the Quo sound at the start of a new decade and I for one thought they nailed it just right. Its a shame it all changed for the worse thereafter. But yeah, its not a bad little ditty. I don't mind it at all within the context of the album. Truth be told if this were on Backbone, with that production and mix, it would be considered a modern day classic!!

Mrs F talking about a Sting of truth got me thinking about how Rossi used to say in interviews back around the early 80s that 'The Police' could cover some Quo songs and make them their own and equally that Quo could cover a few of 'The Police' songs and make them their own.
Whether that had any influence on Quo playing around with a few bars of something resembling reggae I don't know, or if Quo's liking of Led Zeppelin's 'D'yer Mak'er' had any influence, just a random thought.
mortified saying everyone was doing it back then, reminded me that Young & Moody had a jolly good go at something reggae-ish with 'All The Good Friends'. Produced by Francis Rossi.
As for the NTL album and its stable mate JS, they still sound vibrant and hold up today. John Eden coaxed some good stuff out of the band for a new era. Excellent panning techniques and what have you.

" Standing in line again; wasting my time...." That's the reggae-ish bit. Just a passing nod, admittedly, but it's something I picked up on the first time I played it. I'd actually bought I Just Can't Stop It by The Beat and rather liked a bit of reggae/ska at the time. Although I stopped short at the black suit and trilby On my radiooooooo........

When I bring this song to mind I don't really like it much. I'd never seek it out and I know I wouldn't enjoy it much if I clicked the link and listened on phone or laptop
But as part of the album it just works
Crank it up and they nail that riff. Great drumming. It just rocks. Not many songs after this could you say those three things
Love the album, similar to WYW in style but has a raw edge. This was Quo's loudest tour ever, a period of flirtation with the NWOBHM. The album cover, the merch, the promo video... everything was great. The band was starting to fall apart, but I didn't know it...

When this post came uo a few days ago I listened to the song a few times out of interest as I can't remember the last time I would have voluntarily played it (probably in the months after I bought the album on release as I know since that I never really played the album again)
Each time I could not listen the whole way through (only wanted to hear the 'reggae piece', guitar solo and to listen to Johns drumming). Not enough of interest to give it a full play through and I had an urge to skip it all the time.
However although is not a song I rate at all or would want to listen to I have found parts of creeping in to my head and popping up.
Even this second rate stuff from Quo (and I mean Quo, not the current band) has some pull!
