‘We are excited to be taking part in this year’s official Record Store Day UK Drop on 12th June with a special release of Live At Knebworth. This is the first time these tracks have been released in over thirty years and the first time on vinyl. Royalties from the sale of this record throughout the world, are donated to Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Charity.’ You can get a copy from a participating indie record shop near you: recordstoreday.co.uk/stores/ #RSD21 #RSDDrops

Can't for the life of me understand why they are like this with their old material.
Is it Francis? Is it management? Like the bootlegs released on the deluxe albums are an insult to the fans.
Where is the full performance of this gig? Why are they releasing the same tracks everyone has and that are on YouTube, that you can download anyways?
I don't know... Makes no sense

Makes no sense I'd say you could blame it on the band... but they don't get involved with releases, stupidly. I'd say you could blame it on Management... but Porter also doesn't get involved with release, ^see above. Bootlegs, as far as I know, can be blamed on Bob Young, as he supplied them to Universal. Happy to be told otherwise. They refuse to use bootlegs these days The full performance exists, but if they're going to release the whole thing they would need to remix the multitracks - which they probably won't do as they wouldn't see a profit with all the money going straight to Nordoff Robins. The only way we'll ever get a remix of this show is if it is part of a boxset, like Pink Floyds was initially. So they could price the boxset in a way they could see a return in profits whilst also donating a portion of the proceeds to Nordoff. Genesis and Robert Plant are also releasing a "Live At Knebworth" RSD exclusive, however I've not seen the tracklistings for those so I can't say whether they are the full sets or just the audio from the original compilation. Edit;- I also wouldn't want them to use the BBC Radio One broadcast of the show for anything, as that mix was p*ss poor.

But Pink Floyd are releasing their Knebworth set in full as a standalone release outside of the box set as a Vinyl & CD album and not to do with RSD. To my knowledge its only the video footage staying exclusive too the The Later Years box set & they are releasing the video of that concert on YouTube as PFM have uploaded Shine On, Great Gig & Sorrow so far onto their offical YouTube account
Is a shame thats it only these 3 already heard songs from Knebworth being re-released the audio quality will prob be the same as on the Knebworth compilation CD is my guess too.

Think they would have been better releasing Dog of Two Head on Bone Shaped Disc in Gatefold Sleeve with Pop Up Bulldog when Opened with Free Chewy Stick

At first I thought it was the entire Knebworth album but I see it's only Quo's tracks. As Quoincidence says, Genesis and Robert Plant also appear to be releasing their part of the original album as a separate release. Although, also like he points out, there's no indication of track listing. Interesting that some releases say 1LP or 2LP's and some say 12" vinyl. Bit ambiguous that. The Rest of Status Quo on purple vinyl is a bit of an oddity. Most of these RSD releases tend to be 're-releases' but some acts seem to have new tracks - often entire albums - for the occasion. Foo Fighters in the past spring to mind. I think any release of Quo's entire set would have to be brought out in it's own right; away from RSD. But the whole point of this is to support independent record stores, not to satisfy the lust of Quo fans Very few acts from Knebworth that day have released their entire set. Or intend to by the looks. So bully for Pink Floyd. If record stores are open by then, I dare say I'll be popping along on 12 June to get me some

What is on offer here certainly isn't going to entice me into a record shop to make a purpose, I can easily live without these two releases.

It's marketing like anything else. And the vast majority of releases by all artists are rehashes of older stuff, particularly if it's not been on vinyl before. Or not for a long time. I actually spotted a UFO 10" single on there in clear vinyl containing a track from the mid 70's. That caught my attention. OK, you'll only really attract the collector but I think that was always the case with RSD. There are dozens of releases over two days, possibly even hundreds, and I suspect very few have much previously unreleased material on them. But I take the point. People won't be queuing down the street. Although vinyl overtook CD's in sales for the first time in decades last year, streaming and download still will rule from now on. Or whatever medium pitches up next.

The Genesis LP also will contain the 2 songs from the CD/Cassette only, so I suspect Robert Plant will get the same treatment. recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/13637For Genesis it will be the first time that Turn it on Again medley is release on vinyl. As for Quo, I don't know why the don't include In The Army Now just to get at least all the "official songs" on the same format.

Yeah, it's the same for Robert Plants release - 4 tracks;- Hurting Kind, Liars Dance, Tall Cool One, Wearing & Tearing I'm thinking that Nordoff Robbins have sorted these releases, as I wouldn't see the record companies issuing these with generic sleeve designs that don't even have the bands branding on them.

Easier to use the production masters that were used for the original CD / Vinyl release than to go back to the video release and use that audio, especially with the tracks being in the wrong order;- Whatever You Want, Rockin' All Over The World, Dirty Water, In The Army Now I also think the mix on the video was different to what was released on the compilation.

both Quo releases appear to have disappeared from the list of releases on the RSD website.
