What a pretentious prick this Sam King is. How about naming the songs, are they ballads or rockers etc. I bet no one ever asked Sam what he thought of the dinner he just had. I agree. Ain't Complaining is far from a perfect album but his review makes me want to vigorously defend the album because the review is so irritating in its smugness and derogatoriness towards the band, its fans and an entire, not unsizable chunk of rock music. The comparison to Megadeth quite simply makes zero sense. Not even apples to oranges, apples to carrots more like it. Add to all this a cynicism of a guy who comes across like he's bereft of all sense of wonder, and wants the entire world to be as cynical as him. Repulsive.

The guy prefers "an intensity, however perverse" to "complacency", "manicured, deloused" and "matey camaraderie". Just think about it. Words matter.
I mean it's all figures of speech I guess but to extrapolate, who would you rather spend time with - somebody who's complacent but decent, or someone with an intense perversity or a perverse intensity or whatever? Christ.
