" Forgive me if I've missed it"? The writer obviously fell for the stereotyped image of the band's music (they still do ) and was surprised by the single. Not having paid a blind bit of notice to Wild Side Of Life, Rockin', Accident Prone or Living On An Island. All a bit sarky in the end but there had been worse

I can't ever remember a music paper review ever being witty, ever containing genuine humour, ever!
Who are these hacks trying to impress? Trying so hard to be clever, and falling so short of being entertaining.
It's true. music journalism is the lowest form of wit!

It does go on a bit, never been a favourite. I remember Mick Jagger on radio 1 saying it was pointless and they'd done better stuff.

For some reason always reminds me of Here comes the sun.

I think it was good live back in the day, always liked the track - just a little different but still decidedly Quo, imo.

Quo singles reviews coming slap bang in the middle of Punk and New Wave were never going to be generous to them and very few music hacks worth their salt were going to cheer them on. By 1980 they were caught between the the new wave leftfield of NME and the NWOBHM from Sounds. Unfortunately they had very little place to hide.

I don't care what this paper or Mick Jagger says, it is one of my favorites since little. Even my father says this is one of the first quo songs that I ever heard, so, it must be something.

I like it. Prefer the live versions from 84
Francis and Alan's voices really suit it. Rick and Francis singing it, didn't work for me

The first Quo song I heard. Later became our wedding song...
Still really like it ,and same as with the other great old singles ,I avoid listening to it

Imaginary Strats? Que?
Didn't need Jagger's endorsement as it climbed towards the summit of the charts and tantalisingly close to the number one spot. Repetitive but possibly the key to its success with the drums being the special ingredient.
As other have said it is different but still recognisable as Rossi and Quo.
