Was it Brian’s band who laid down FBI with Rick and Francis guesting or did Quo do it with Brian guesting ?
And why wasn’t it on Don’t Stop ?

Technically I think it's neither of what you've said as options. As far as I'm aware, it's Brian May on every instrument besides Francis and Rick's guitar parts. It's a B-side for one of his solo releases.
Could be a drum machine though.

It's on an excellent album called Twang: A tribute to the music of Hank Marvin and the Shadows, which I have. The sleeve notes say, as Hersie suggests, that it is Francis and Rick with Brian May playing everything else. I must say, though, that it really sounds like the rest of Quo. I wonder if there was some licensing issue or something?

Thx for the info, there's some great musicians on the album, will give it a listen sometime As for FBI, I think it sounds like Rick and Francis popped round to Brian's for a few hours and they knocked this out fast with a drum machine. Doesn't sound like a band to me. Still like it though ! I think Brian also used it as a b side
